Yale Class of 2020 applicants

Oh that was such a good news again. Maybe I lost my hopes because of some rejections I got. anyway, wish you best of luck in Ivy day

Did yale send the official email about decisions yet? I know when they come out, March 31st, but don’t out an as a reminder that it will be released soon? If did, haven’t received one.

@Monster1997 to which email address did you sent the email? i noticed the yale undergrad admissions office doesn’t have an email address

student.questions@yale.edu

So I’m happy that I’ve been able to communicate with them regularly! I also got an email around mid - March about some test scores, but they usually mean nothing. The admission process is so unpredictable!

Well guys! I want to thank you all because you have really helped me! I will apply this fall, and, thanks to you, I pretty much know how it works. Good luck to all of you and I hope you’ll post whether you’ve been accepted or not!

@Monster1997 Best of luck to you too!

@Tperry1982 so the admissions office doesnt consider the majors you pick on the application? because if they didnt take those into consideration then they’d have an entire class of STEM majors (which are popular right now) or a general lack of diversity in interests throughout the class.

I thought they did
I heard they are actively trying to recruit more STEM majors bc Yale tended to attract humanity type majors in past

@wisako It is an exaggeration to say they entirely do not take it into account. Rather, it is not seen as a high priority because of the likelyhood of a person rethinking and switching majors while at the college.

But rest assured they do take note of what you selected, and check to see whether one has actively worked, in school or outside, in related aspects to their major selection.

As a related aside, I hope Rafalala is right as one who applied to Yale as a STEM major. They’ve really improved with biomedical engineering since its departmental founding in 2003.

@Nedcone I get that people will change their mind. It also wouldnt make much sense for someone without any experience in a given field to choose that field as their major. I asked what I asked because Yale doesn’t have a scale on their application like Harvard does that asks you to rate how likely you are to shift interests. I’m asking for Tperry’s insight on the importance it plays.

@lh7636 Were you able to log in?

I wasn’t. you?

I wasn’t able to log in either.

S can’t. I think they’re savvy about those kinds of things now. Last year Gates Finalists were able to find out early based on a similar portal, but they revamped things this year.

Can’t log in. Definitely going to be rejected anyways

I didn’t think that they would be that reckless.

Wait, what’s going on?

Whaaaaat? I was able to login

^^Yeah, same. My portal is up and everything.
