Good luck to everyone for decision day!
@Wendelstein Iām sending in a sax supplement. I donāt have any notable awards, but I did get feedback that my playing is suitable for a conservatory from professors at Berklee and Julliard just from emailing. Does anyone know if Yale (and the other ivies) value music supplements a lot (depending on the quality obviously) or just a little?
@blessupbro U mean like next year? Oh are you a junior? Iām not too sure about how much they value, I would just say if itās really good it will definitely be a plus, but Iāve also heard people who got into Juiliard and stuff got rejected from HYP etc. so you still gotta be up to par in other areas.
@Wendelstein Oh, no, Iām a current senior waiting for this Thurs just like you haha. I just responded to your previous post and decided to ask something to the forum as a whole.
@blessupbro Ohh ok. Wait so you are sending in a sax supplement tomorrow? Lol or did you already send it in?
@Wendelstein I already sent it in, lol.
Did anyone apply to neuroscience??
Did any of you not submit all of your financial aid documents? Iām kinda waiting until thursday to submit the rest of my schtuff. Yaleās financial aid site says that submitting them late wonāt reduce the amount.
If I ask them about submission of materials faxed to their office, do you think theyāll answer me or not?
@Monster1997 I asked them and they replied but that was about 3 weeks ago when not all of the decisions were made. Worth a try though
@Monster1997 At this late date, you shouldnāt be expecting any confirmation from them.
Ahh! Deferred from Yale SECA. Accepted to Northwestern, Duke, CMU, UCLA, UNC, and USC, but then was waitlisted by Cal Berkeley which threw me off. Not even sure I stand a chance anymore at Yale
@MT16Actor many of us, didnāt even get accepted to those places. i only have ucla, usc, and virginia. still applying anyways, cause itās a crapshoot.
@nevergiveup - you do not apply to a specific major at Yale. They may ask on the application, but it is truly non-binding. You do not declare your major until the end of Sophomore year. Most students change their major at least once. When you get there, you may find something else that interests you. I understand that if you are a STEM type, you probably wonāt jump to a touchy feeling major like sociology, but there are so many STEM areas that you could not possible know ahead of time what you want. The great thing about Yale is that it lets you explore and does not tie you down ahead of time. You are still in high school. You have no idea how you will feel after two or three semesters of college. Its a good thing!! Good luck.
Just got an email from yale which made me hopeful again, but I know my chances for yale are very low.
What did the email say? Why do you think your chances are very low?
@noname876
Because Iām an international student applying for FA too
Dear ###
Thank you for your email! If your school does not issue mid-year reports or you have already graduated from high school, you are exempt from submitting a mid-year report. Donāt worry if this section appears as missing on your online status check.
All the best,
Sammy '17
I actually asked them about mid year report around 2 weeks ago, and I got the answer today which is really close to the ivy day. I already know it means nothing. It just made mee feel good about them
But they are need blind⦠It should not matter if you applied for FA. So have you already graduated or your school doesnāt have mid-year report?
I graduated. I couldnāt apply last year because I was preparing to participate in science olympiad both national and international, which is the only extraordinary competition in my country, and some other reasons. Isnāt it need-blind only for domestic students?
@Monster1997 Itās need blind for both domestic and international applicants
