yale EA ppl

Alumni or on-campus?

Tell us how it goes!

Why Yale? You know how in This Side of Paradise Amory Blaine says that he pictures Princeton to be a spring day, and Yale to be the Fall with the leaves turning (I’m paraphrasing here). That’s exactly what I want.

Why I chose Yale over Harvard? Cause Harvard SUX. lol. Actually I have 2 pages of reasons that I sent to my counselor. If you’re really interested, i’ll email them to u:p
It basically boils down to gut feeling. I just felt at home at Yale. Period.

on campus…hopefully when im there i will see again why i loved it so much the first time i went. we’ll see. i’m rather excited.
i think im abouts done with my essays, but for some reason i dont want to put it all together and send it in. because once i do, its completely out of my control and thats scary. know what i mean?

I totally know what you mean. I’ve been stalling for about a week now on the pretense that I still need to revise my essays (even though they’ve been edited approximately 6168314 times already). I’m too scared to hit “submit”!

just get over it and hit submit. the transcript is still the most important thing.

mine is in the guidance office right now, so itll probably be sent off early next week.at any rate, its out of my hands.

I already submitted it! Now only about…67 days to go before we hear back!

oh goddddd

jli2006, did you ever get a confirmation/welcome email?

oh gosh…you guys are done already? i still have a ways 2 go =( damn procrastination

I don’t know what to do with my extracurriculars…does anyone have any advice? It says to list them in order of their importance to you (and then you write the mini-essay on your first choice). My passion in life is dancing, but it’s not meaningful in the way that, say, Habitat for Humanity is meaningful. Do you think I should put dancing (which I love, but hasn’t really taught me any huge life lessons) or something more “life-altering.”

What mini-essay are you talking about?

the common app short answer- which activity is most meaningful to you

Yeah, that’s the one…any advice? I’m just kind of worried that if I put dancing down, they’ll think “jeez, this girl is so self-centered that she’d rather dance than do community service.”
I think I may just go ahead and put Habitat. Dancing is loads of fun (and it goes without saying that I’d rather be doing the tango than hauling stuff around in 90 degree weather), but I don’t know if it’s really MEANINGFUL.

I got a confirmation email that said that they received my application electronically, but not an official letter from Yale.

Holy crap. Just got back from an overnight at Yale. It was godly.

…I’m still nowhere near done my application, but at least now I have some real motivation.

What was it like???

Should we compile a roster of those applying early and their intended majors? I know we have an informal roster going, but it’d be nice to make it separate…

In any case, I’m applying EA under biomedical engineering with hopes of going into research (and with little interest in pursuing engineering as a career, lol).

I should get started on that essay…

I’m applying EA. Probably going to major in Physics and Philosophy…freaking awesomest major EVER.
