I just got this:
“This message is to let you know that your application to Yale has been received and entered into our database.
You will be receiving an acknowledgement by mail as well that has additional information.
You will receive another notification when your application is complete. Thank you for your interest in Yale!”

so apperently we will be getting 3 emails or smthng, but anyways does this mean that it has been opened - like people are reviewing my chances as we speak??

ib_victim, how soon after submitting your app did you get that message? i just sent mine in like an hour ago, and all i got was a note saying online payment was approved.

It says interviews are tied to your high school. Apparently my school doesn’t have any Yale connections (even though a kid goes to Yale from my school every few years, including my cousin 5 years ago). I was pretty shocked to not be getting an interview since I live on Long Island. They couldn’t fit me in with the kids from one of those crazy high schools like Garden City or Jericho?

I’m sure not having an interview won’t help my chances. I don’t think it’ll hurt them either though. Colleges have been saying for a long time alumni interviews are useless and just there to make the alumni feel important. I’ve been told my recs are excellent and talk about my character in addition to everything else, so those should make up for my lack of interview (I hope).

it just means there’s no rep in your area, don’t worry about it. not having an interview can’t hurt you, but unfortunately it can’t help you either. emperor, you might want to consider asking for an on-campus interview if it’s really important to you. i understand they offer a limited number of these through mid-november.

eek. i didn’t staple my check to page four of the common app, i just put it in the envelope. think thats okay? i figure the person who unloads my app will just have to staple or clip it on, which is a hassle, but shouldn’t be that bad… or what?

ook, i think my app will definitely be a lot stronger in the RD round- possibly awards from research, better essays, and better SAT IIs. that being said, good luck to everyone who’s applying EA. i hope you all get in ! :)

RIkataka, I am in the same boat with you. I got a 650 on my Math II test (40th percentile). By the time the RC round comes around I (hopefully) will have raised it. I am afriad that that one test score may have ruined my chances.
