yale EA ppl

Mark is my idol. I want to be like him when I grow up.

Speaking of hot… Rosario Dawson!! Oh baby.

I admit it, I teared up at the funeral, too.

Haha my sister and her friend and I had gone to the theater with tickets reserved for us (it was sold out by the time we got there). In the room all the seats were filled except for two on the top row and a bunch in the first two rows. At first we sat in the second row cause we wanted to sit together, but I was like “**** THIS I’m not seeing Rent cocking my head up the entire time”. So my sister and her friend sat in the two seats on the top row and I sat on the stairs in front of them haha. This lady next to me was giving me weird looks. BUT it was worth it for Rent.

saw rent, cried like a baby… theoneo, how did you not like the original angel??? he was awesome.
and rosaria dawson rocked too. but some parts were wayy cheesy, which is why my european mother never let me go see musicals; she has too much pride. ;)

filmxoxo17, did i just read a comment on European pride issues?:stuck_out_tongue:
Cause if I did, I’d say it sounds strange to me. Europe, at least currently, is not nearly as puritanistic as it’s traditionally thought to be…Personal experience;)

Angel just seemed really awkward. I don’t know… He was awesome in the original recording though.

■■■■! They completely omitted the scene right before Roger goes to Santa Fe and he and Mark get into a huge argument and Roger’s like “you pretend to create and observe when you really detach from feeling alive”!!! Now Mark is just like the objective narrator in the movie - which totally CONTRASTS with what’s supposed to happen! Ahh!

Then again it took me two days to realize that so I guess it wasn’t that bad.

PLUS at the end of the scene Mimi does her “Goodbye Love” thing - and it’s all gone!!!

They also took out like 6 other songs. Boo.

And I liked “You’ll See” better when Angel and Collins were in it.

Hehe sorry for turning this thread into a RENThead thread guys.

jhudora: oh i just commented on how my snooty european mother considers herself above musicals. nothing to do with puritans… :)

Just out of curiosity, where exactly is your mother from? I just love how people on the other side of the big pond tend to use “European” as some sort of a collective concept:)

Considering that I know where my own mother is from, I don’t think I fall into that category. I use European the same way I use “african” or “Asian” and sorry that it seems to be bothering you.  :)

It’s not bothering me. I’m just curious as to the more specific details. Unfortunately, it’s one of my distinguishing character traits. I always WANT TO KNOW MORE. Sorry about that:p

ahh, forever questioning.
well as a new yorker, i’m forever suspicious.

Sounds like a conversation b/n us would be a mission impossible then;)

hahaha, probably. we’d probably end up as roommates. :)

…in a perfectly quiet room:P

Hahah that would be hilarious.

Actually it would be impossible. I can never remain quiet for too long :)

Okay, I’m glad to see that Rent isn’t being ignored on here. I’ll stop talking about it now.

Five days until Yale begins review applications.

really? u mean it hasn’t even started? so my application’s just been sitting there collecting dust?

Hey guys, I was just rereading my supplemental essay (aka de-Yaleing it) and I realized that, in the first line, I spelt Cornell wrong (Cornel) when talking about where I spent my summer. Great!

don’t worry, they might think u spent ur summer with Professor Cornel West!

Hey, has anyone seen Rent on Broadway with Cary Shields as Roger? He’s playing Roger right now… and he’s absolutely gorgeous! Seriously, model material. (Plus I think he’s a better singer than Adam Pascal) I dunno, I love Adam but I wish Cary were playing Roger in the movie. Having said that, I still haven’t seen the movie yet because it’s not coming out in Korea!! boo=(

Wow. Rent blew me away. I didn’t know anything about the storyline before seeing it (except the soundtrack), and I was absolutely amazed. If you haven’t seen it…GO SEE IT NOW!! It’s well worth it.
