crap, the college counselors sent out a letter today to all seniors saying admissions officers are unsure about their predicted yield rates this year, so we should be expecting more deferrals/waitlists this year than usual. Anyone know anything about this?

^ For just Yale or for schools in general?

for schools in general

Err, that seems like complete BS…sorry, I mean, I can see it happening, but speculation like that happens every year. Plus, seeing how random the whole admissions process has become, perhaps it’s best not to stress over it.

^^I might regret the “don’t stress” part of that statement come December 16. Or 15, I guess.

haha don’t worry, i’m really hoping it is BS.

i don’t really get how this whole committee thing works.

Who knows, who can fathom the ways of this admission deal. All I know is that these next two weeks are gonna be the longest of my life. Hope and doubt are duking it out in my head!

the asc website has some insight into the process–there’s also an abundant amount of literature on it, though none specifically for yale.

Right now I’m just bracing myself for the worst…definitely growing to love the other schools I’ve applied to though!

So let’s talk about how unfair it is that Columbia students get to find out their decisions on December 8th. And Brown is December 12th!

Impatient impatient impatient.

I think Cornell finds out around December 10th…5 days before they’re mailed!!! Very unfair :(

I’ve decided that if I don’t get in, applying early to Yale will have been the biggest cocktease of my life. Anyone agree?

oh, and amnesia…“i’m a gangsta’ from chi-town”

are you serious? they all get to know before we do? well then, that letter of deferral better be the best “maybe” letter ever written if i have to wait this long for it.

I had my interview last night, I think it went pretty well.

But, I wish we got to find out sooner. Like, tomorrow. These next two weeks are busy, so maybe they’ll go fast. But somehow I doubt it.

According to one of my friends, a lot of the non-Ivy ED/EA schools let people know a few days ago. Now that’s REALLY unfair.

How can there not be more deferrals and more rejections when there are not any more spots and there are a zillion more early action/decision/admit applications out there

uva found out yesterday. and as unsticky said, columbia finds out in less than a week. not fair!

2600th post

Okay…am I the only one who thinks that December 16th is coming a little bit toooooo quickly? I know when the decisions come out, I’ll probably wait a day and calm myself before checking online. I’ll convince myself that I don’t want to go to Yale and that I only applied because their early program is non-binding. Or, I’ll try damned hard to do that, at least. If I end up not checking the decision online before the envelope comes, I’ll definitely tuck it away for a while before opening it, and when I do open it, it will be after a lot of yoga and mediation.

i’m pretty sure you’re the only one, painfully slow for me
