Yale Financial Aid

What if you’ve already sent in the finaid forms, and subsequently your parents decide that they can’t contribute as much as what was stated in the forms? Will the Yale Financial Aid Office allow for such adjustments to the financial package (mailed in april) and be a little more generous with aid?

Yes. Yale FiAid is always up for readjustments. I know folks who readjusted their aids three weeks into the school year.

oh really? Thanks! Does that apply to internationals too?

The amount your parents say they can contribute is irrelevant. Most schools, Yale included, will use a variety of methods to determine your contribution. Among them income, assets, the FAFSA, the CSS Profile and income tax returns. If they took the parents word for what their contribution woud be, everyone would say zero. Do you honestly think Yale would then say OK you can go for free? Wait until you see the financial aid package, if you have unusual circumstances of feel it’s unfair try to appeal, but understand that they are under no obligation to change.
