Yale Hispanic Applicants

Hi, I'm headed to Yale this fall and want to answer questions for any Hispanic applicants to the Class of 2018 :)

I can answer questions about the Hispanic community at Yale, any classes, clubs, or anything you have in mind. I've been to the campus many times and have a good idea of what there is to offer for the Hispanic community!

Thanks for making yourself available for questions, floccinauci! Do you know what kind of scholarships Yale has for National Hispanic Merit Scholars? Thanks!

None. Y gives only need based FA.

See the Hispanic Students forum (under College Admissions, Specialty Topics) for a thread with an extensive list of colleges that offer NHRP scholarships. Also read the Resources sticky thread on that forum for lots of information on scholarships, past Results, diversity fly in opportunities, etc.

Thanks, Entomom. That kind of stinks for a top performing student from an upper middle class background. We don’t have the funds to pay Yale’s high costs and are hoping for merit based aid at a top school.

Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT only provide need-based aid. Chicago, Duke, and a few others have combination of need-based and merit scholarships…you could ask on their CC forums…

Other selective schools with merit scholarships, some which are directed towards URMs: WUSTL, Emory, UVA, UNC-CH, UMichigan, Rice, USC, Vandy, BU.
