Did you really want us to chance you or to see your feathers?
Because they are pretty nice, and I am wondering what sort of peacock holds those feathers

Well I’ve seen other people’s stats on this site, and its hard to tell whether I am even in the competitive pool. They have much higher SATs, not to mention I’m Asian and from NJ.

i’d say to all juniors that the best strategy for getting into college would be to get off cc and to put their heart into the application process. whether you get shallow ego-boosts or unqualified criticism in these “chance me” threads, it really doesn’t amount to much. if you want to go to yale so badly, show the admissions office who you are and hope that they like you. showing the online community is just bragging. you can’t mold yourself to fit a particular school’s standards or to one-up other applicants; even if you succeed, you probably won’t be very happy if you do get in. enjoy your high school experience, do what you love, and don’t rely on the input of complete strangers online to raise your self confidence. good luck!

Have you done any research related to quantum mechanics? I ask because I read somewhere that Yale really likes to see science research papers sent in so if you have engaged in research and especially if you won awards then you should send it in.

I agree with dogdoc that the chance me threads are pretty pointless when you are as qualified as the OP. But this site can be a REALLY helpful resource when editing the college essays, I went through several drafts and the help from CC I think really did help my app.

[Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.9]
Unacceptable! Everyone at Yale has 4.0’s.

[690 CR SATI]
Rofl! Everyone knows if you have a single score in the 600’s you need not apply! 500’s are ok because they are admitted as ego-boosters to the top students.

[Class President of Junior Class, Sophomore Class President, Freshman Class Secretary]
CLEARLY you are a nouveau riche to power. Look let’s get real, Yale can tell a future senator within 5 minutes. Anyone who is a male secretary, that isn’t appointed to the position, has no leadership.

[Participant of Columbia University Science Honors Program]
Why would you put another schools name on your app? You are supposed to say you’d commit suicide for Yale and take a bullet for the president of Yale. CLEARLY no devotion.

[Raised $500 for the American Diabetes Association]
You put a numerical amount for fund raising LESS than $10,000!!! Noob!

Laundry List! Spoiler-Alert- ITS DIRTY!

[Additional Rec: I might get one from my AP US History teacher from sophomore year (who went back to college). He graduated from Harvard and likes me a lot…]
Secretaries of Applicant Annihilation are instructed to burn applications that mention the word Harvard on a Yale application.

[Ethnicity: Asian]
Hope you have safeties…

[Hooks : First generation for 4 year college… low income ($40,000) ]
Minor plus. Depends, how good do you look with soot smeared on your face while posing for an advertisement?

I feel pity for you. You have been battered on this site.
One thing. You joined since 2006, and I joined just last year.
By now, you should know how this site works.
By now, you should know what to do to beat your competition here.
I think you need to sit back and examine your app. You have time.
Look at it and decide what would be best to put and not to.
I did a lot of things but I did not put all of them there.
Clearly, if a college sees that you did soccer 9th and 11th, they will think you are not dedicated. But your coach may have been sick or something, and your application may n ot say that.

Remember, your application is your tool. It is your weapon against other people, and adcom know this. They want to be entertained and impressed by how well you use this tool. Are your essays sharp or just another blunt sword? Are you using the weapon to stand out or are just trying to blend in with some other “unique” EC?

So many questions and many more answers. Misterwang, what you need is to shave all the irrelevant answers and use those that would help you.
Is this EC relevant?
Yes, because it shows my dedication and passion to ____
No, because I did it for one year and everyone would have done it.
No, because it makes my resume BORING!
