Yale Med School

I plan on applying to Yale Med school in the future.

As far as the med school there, what kind of resume am I looking to build in order to be considered there.

My guess off the back is above average MCAT scores, in the 35 + range?
a 3.8 - 4.0 GPA?

outside of these two obvious factors, what kind of students get admitted to Yale?

A voluminous independent research rap
with some award-given internships and
all 4 year volunteering with 2,000 + hours at a hospital?

I don’t think this question is appropriate to the Med school thread because I am looking more so to get a perspective on the overall student body of the medical school. What kind of things they are recognized for that catapulted them to the top med school in the country in my opinion.

The philosophy of medicine at Yale is unprecedented and I think the overall mold as a doctor is nothing short of perfection. You become a four year sculpture of omnipresent luster. It is my dream to attend the med school there, and one I am going to work insanely hard for.

Also, if you have anything else to add, than you =)

A few years ago, there was an astonishing student who graduated with a 3.92 GPA from Yale College. His MCAT score was either 39 or 40 MCAT (likely 40, if I remember it correctly). He was accepted to a couple of medical schools of this caliber.

Even though he was a science major (biology, btw, he researched all 4 years in college but this was not the area where he really excelled - he excelled in social service related ECs), he was very active in social services, like serving homeless people. In his senior year, he was elected as a representative in a local government organization which serves the low-income citizens. He once posted at SDN that it was mostly due to his ECs that he was admitted to these prestigious medical schools. Just the stat will not do the trick.

After he was admitted to medical schools, he actually decided to do something else first for one year before he entered the medical school. (He used to post on both this forum and SDN.)

I know a kid with 3.82 GPA and 31 MCAT who got into Yale Medical School. He did research during undergrad and interned at Goldman Sachs.
