Are letters of recommendation supposed to be sent for Yale music supplements? Yale website doesn’t give any specific instructions. Anyone here who has done this before? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
Yale DOES give specific guidance. They HIGHLY recommend ONLY two LoRs.
The 2 required LORs for Yale are from core academic teachers of your choosing. Choose wisely teachers who can write intimately about your presence in the classroom. That’s what LoRs (for Yale) are for. If you choose to submit a Music supplement, plan on NOT violating Yale’s suggestion.
If, you feel that a single music-related LoR would be enormously helpful to your package, take the risk and send it as your 3rd supplemental LoR.

OP, I would counsel you to consider asking your HS GC (who seems to be a good one based on other threads) whether or not your D wants to submit a Music Supplement in the first place. Just as most HS research papers are inappropriate to submit to HYPMS (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1806978-submit-supplementary-research-paper-during-mid-year-report.html#latest), most music supplements are also a bad idea. You surely mean well, but in applying to elite schools, less is more, except in those rare instances where a supplement is exceptional.
A personal example. The summer before senior year, DS interned at a physics lab. Among other things, he developed diagnostics software for a PhD candidate and was a listed co-author on a paper presented at a professional conference. We debated a LoR from the professor in charge of the Ivy lab, and DS decided to submit it as an additional LoR to Yale, although he was initially considering providing it only to the Ivy where the professor teaches. DS provided a link to the paper without drawing excessive attention to it (the paper/internship was, iirc, listed as one of his activities). DS did not consider submitting the paper as a supplement.
