Can you explain what you mean by rough re: Hotel Duncan?
@DeepBlue86, there’s a android version of the Yale app.
Anyone order a birthday cake through the Yale services? And was it worth the expense?
Advance travel planners:
Yale Family Weekend is provisionally scheduled for October 13 - 15, 2017. Note that this is the weekend after Columbus Day this year. Then October recess begins Tuesday, Oct. 17.
@tonymom I ordered a cookie cake through the student run group and they missed the order so they delivered two for the price of one the next day. Luckily my order was for the night before because I knew lots of birthday celebrations happen at midnight. Reports were that it was delicious. It is delivered to the suite with paper products.

I think the other organization requires pick up.
@musicmerit
Thanks for info! Very helpful. First birthday away so I wanted to plan a surprise
I ordered a cake last year and it never got made or delivered. At first they told me it was delivered and I was mistaken, but when I checked with my son he told me that it was absolutely not delivered to him or to any other suites on the hall. I was finally told the truth by someone at Yale services, and they refunded my money. Not the end of the world but disappointing.
@jrtgsdrule that’s a bummer! You’d hope that they would just fess up and say our mistake and correct it from the get go. Thanks for sharing.
@tonymom - We just had a cake delivered through Yale Student Agencies, and it was beautiful and delicious. Very professional decorating and writing. They deliver between 2 pm and 7 pm, and leave it outside the door if no one is home. Kids loved it.
We ordered a cake a few months back from the student group - a nice cake from what our daughter said, but it was delivered a day late so the surprise element was lost.
Did any of your kids share any interesting experiences about their snow day?
^ I hear poker was involved
Sledding on improvised equipment.
My son trekked thru the snow to class. Then went to work at his lab afterwards. But he said it was fun walking in blustery snow!
My kid has a black eye from a snowball to the face during a big snowball fight but she said she has no regrets. She had her classes and a rehearsal that night so for her it wasn’t any different than a normal Thursday. Just snowy.
.My daughter sent pictures of Old Campus in the midst of the storm and said she had been waiting for this day her entire life. It doesn’t snow much where we are from!
This just in!

Personally I think it was a good decision and from the email sent to the students (kiddo forwarded it) seems to be a very thoughtful process. Hopper seems a fitting replacement.
Anyone here have a child that was put into a single-room as a freshman?? meaning they were the only one sleeping in their room.
@david_p - you mean a single stand alone room with no common room? Those are not available to freshman on Old Campus. They may have a single bedroom in a suite. My D was in a room of 6 freshman year - 4 singles and one double. They were assigned bedrooms before they got there.
@david_p - Yes! My son was randomly assigned a single within a 6-man suite. There were six guys and four bedrooms and the room assignments within the suite came down from on high when rooming info was released in June. How can I help?
