This is about Sex Week at Harvard. Oh, no, it’s contagious! ;)

Yes, it’s contagious . . . the article mentions it all started at Yale in 2002!

My older D was on the Board of Harvard Sex Week, she warned me that a picture of her might surface in the NY Times article but it looks like she didn’t get to be in the limelight this time!!! Thanks Gibby, didn’t know if I was going to get to read the article or not!

^Did she tell you she got the Board position because she was the most experienced? :)

^ hahah snort YalegradandDad…

ok EAO–so where exactly does that go under experience on her post graduation job search, resume? and Rec letters…
;)

LOL YaleGradanddad, Not sure why she was on the board although the organizer is a friend of hers and knowing her she likes the shock value of it!

Our second son graduates in May, and I was wondering if any parents with prior experience could explain what the Boola Ball is like on the Saturday of Commencement Weekend? I’m trying to order tickets for various functions during that weekend, and our son had not heard of the ball, what it’s like, or whether he’d want to go! The name struck him as unusual, but I suppose there’s a story behind it!!! I thought the description sounded like fun but S2 was on the fence about going because he knew nothing about it at all.

I wouldn’t miss the commencement Whippenpoof concert (saw them Family Weekend), but wondered about the Boola Ball – any other commencement tips experienced parents have would be welcome, too!

Sorry, didn’t attend last year. For boola boola:

[Boola Boola - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Boola Boola - Wikipedia)

Thanks for the Boola reference entomom! Hadn’t known about the Fight Song during the past 4 years, so this is interesting to learn! The ball is in Payne Whitney, so I see how it goes by the Boola name!

^So obviously you never heard the story about George Bush singing his daughters to sleep with the Boola Boola song? I always thought that was so cute.

Bay have never heard of GW singing his daughters to sleep with the Boola Boola song, will have to Google it!

Here you go, EAO. I got the story right but the fight song wrong. I forgot that Yale’s other fight song is “Bulldogs, bulldogs bow wow wow,” and that is the one that Bush sang:

Having heard both songs, I think he might have had more luck with “Boola boola.”

^Does anyone know whether it was the “bulldog bulldog bow wow wow” or “boola boola” song that has lulled our beloved football team to sleep during The Game this last decade?

“Bulldog” is the one the band plays when the team scores a touchdown, so it hasn’t been lullling very many people.

Thanks Bay, I remember the Bulldog song from when my D was accepted to Yale. We were all sitting in the kitchen and she hesitant to check and see if she had been accepted. She went to the site to see if she was accepted or not but had the sound down. The screen opened to a Bulldog she leaned forward trying to see what the writing said and while doing so was turning up the sound. We heard "Bulldog Bulldog, bow wow wow, Eli Yale Then the bulldog barked and my D screamed. The small print said “Welcome to Yale” We like that song!

You should definitely come. Ya, parents can attend classes and you don’t have to go with your son or D. It gave me a great feel for the campus and College life! The Marriot Hotel has better rates in general. It is important to reserve in advanze and better calling the otel directly. Not 800 number. Hope this helps

Marriot is almost on campus.

Hello Yale Parents! I am the mom of a new member of the Class of 2016. We actually have twins, one going to Yale, one going to MIT, so now I’m trying to figure out the logistics. Can someone either tell me the dates or provide me with a link to any parent events at the time of orientation that we would want to attend? I need dates so we can see whether we can attend all of the parent events at both colleges. So far I only see the pre-orientation dates and orientation dates for the students at Yale. Is there anything that parents attend?

I also have a second question. Has anyone been in Stiles since the renovation? Did they change the layout of the halls (singles vs doubles, hallways vs suites) or did they leave that the same? (My DH was in ES so our '16er needs to decide whether to request to be in Stiles or not.)

Thanks!

My understanding is that the suites in Stiles have been changed, but I don’t know the details. I think it’s fun to be in your parent’s college.

As far as moving in, here’s the academic calendar: [2012?2013 Academic Calendar | Yale College](http://yalecollege.yale.edu/content/2012–2013-academic-calendar)
Your kid should be getting more details. You will want to go to the Freshman Assembly on move-in day. Make sure your husband brings a white handkerchief.

I don’t know anything about Stiles, but Family Weekend is Oct. 12-14th. [2012?2013 Academic Calendar | Yale College](http://yalecollege.yale.edu/content/2012–2013-academic-calendar)
