Without taking into consideration your piano EC, your application looks neat, impressive, but a little bland. However, with piano considered, your application definitely stands out. If the competitions you participated in are as prestigious as you make them sound, and you are on the same level as students at Curtis and Eastman, then I think you will get in.

Be warned, though: piano is a fairly common instrument. Although you’ve definitely got impressive musical creds, there will be at least a few pianists in the applicant pool who are just as talented as you are. Given that Harvard denied an IPhO team member (I don’t know what the rest of his resume looked like, but I assumed it can’t have been entirely terrible), even being at the top of the field can warrant a deferral or rejection.

Regardless, though, you WILL get into many many high-calibre schools (if you’re still planning on applying to 16, as you said before).

PS. Presidential Scholars is kind of a moot award in the realm of early admissions, since 1) you are nominated after Yale’s EA round is over, and 2) nominations are based solely on SAT/ACT scores, which colleges can see on the application.

my son had the same writing score and was accepted
into the yale class of 2011. once your scores are in range and yours are, there are a host of other factors that will determine how admissions will view your application. stop worrying about your scores they are great good luck

See my advice here. It will be very important for you.

Are you going to pursue a BA/MM from Yale School of Music?

P.S. Nice name tag.

Are you honestly worrying about standardized test scores? You are in the .001 percentile for ACT scorers.
