Your academics seem very good, but your ECs aren’t impressive at all. Does Yale know your school well? If they don’t, then you may be at a big disadvantage unless you can somehow explain that your school doesn’t offer extracurriculars. Even then, they may be unwilling to take an applicant from a school like that.

well i got leadership positions my freshman and sophomore year at my old school that many ppl take like 3-4 years to get; i was hopin’ the colleges would like that.
besides, don’t colleges look more at what u make of ur environment? rather than compare you to others who have better opportunities?
iono, Yale seems like a great school. anyway, any more help?

I meant your new school ECs aren’t impressive at all. Sorry for not being clear about that.

It’ll really depend on how well Yale knows your new school. In my opinion, it’s really unusual for a school to offer no extracurriculars.

I disagree with stele - I think you look great! You have top scores, grades, are well rounded show an interest in sports, music and science. You have community service as well as impressive leadership in your ECs. You also have a couple of state writing awards. You have obviously been working very hard while developing your many talents. If I were an admissions officer I would go to bat for you you as long as your recs and essays supported all of this wonderful involvement. Good luck to you!

yeah they know our school pretty well. they send this guy here to talk to us, and give us information, etc. it’s like a big auditorium meeting, and kids from around the OKC metro area that go to other schools come too.
our college counselor is familiar w/ the yale representative for Oklahoma etc.

and it’s true our school has NO ECs (cept StuCo). Judging by my involvement freshman and sophomore yr in clubs and such, y would I pass up the opportunity to join clubs my junior and senior year if they were available?

Anyway, thanks for the advice, others?

Your academics are good enough
E.C.'s are way overblown on these message boards
YES, they ARE very important at colleges like HYP were even 2400/ 4.0 students get rejected, however, you seem to have a sufficient amount of EC’s from your old school. With such an impressive academic record (your school transcript and test scores are the most important part of the application), I’d say you have a great chance

i completely agree WesternMass, EC’s are blown out of proportion on CC.
