Yale Supplement Question

My Grandfather was a distinguished mathematics professor at Yale, but as far as i cant tell, there is no question about relative’s teaching at yale? only relatives going to yale?
in that case, should i just mention my grandfather in my why yale? essay

If you chose to apply to Yale because your grandfather taught there, then definitely mention it in the essay. Otherwise, leave it out. The only right answer is the honest one. :)

Contact the admissions office and ask if this would be worth mentioning. Perhaps put it in the list of relatives who have attended Yale, and just say that he taught rather than attended. It would probably have the same weight.
