Yale University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

As far as I know, Admissions and Financial Aid are largely independent.

This is a link to a post from last year, anyone has this form?

None of it was true. I was on that thread last year. There were quite a few portal astrologies last year, for Yale, and in the end it was just a waste of everyone’s time.

I actually read through the commenst and you were right , both forms and SID meant nothing. Thanks for the headsup.

Those two specifically don’t mean anything. I had the SID and verification form and was deferred.

Fwiw, it seems that a lot of folks got deferred (but not rejected) with an SID. They then can obviously be rejected later, but it does seem to hint at strong candidates.

The fact they were deferred shows they are strong candidates (whether they get in or not)

Well yes
and they receive an SID before deferral more often than not

SID EA: Accepted/ Deferred (can be rejected later)
SID RD: Accepted

However, they are having committee meetings after these emails get sent out, so there is a possibility of rejection having been taken off the list for whatever reason. Hence my allusion to strong candidates

When I read through that thread, someone said people wil SID got rejected too

yeah i don’t deny that, from what i saw though no one got rejected early. all recipients were deferred/rejected

Good to know, you are probably right. I just did a quick read thats all.

And SID was in an email correspondance, somewhere on the top of the email I am guessing ?

there is actually a strong possibility that I am wrong! Don’t take my word for anything, just attempting to present the facts as I see them. The SID is at the top left of the email correspondence, yes.

Portal astrology can be a fun way to pass the time, I just hope no one takes it seriously where they set themselves up for disappointment or creates extra stress. With its years of experience, can you really assume the Yale AO will tip their hand through some glitch in the portal?

Here, I will make a prediction, “Any applicant who is a pet owner will be rejected.” I’ll be right about 96% of the time, which I am confident will have a higher accuracy rate than any portal astrology that indicates acceptance.

totally agree, its just sonmething to keep you going through March. The wait is killing.

I don’t think SIDs indicates acceptance obviously, simply due to the fact that these emails come out before decisions are even released.

But does say anything about passing Yale’s “prescreen” and “an application being competitive”? I don’t mean to argue or keep talking about this if the topic is drawn out and annoying to some users (as my account is new and I haven’t really been on CC before) but I’m curious.

Of course, I also know it is just a financial aid notice :joy:

(I ask this as someone who did not receive this email lol)

I would say the only things that signal that you made it through the initial cuts are being deferred REA and getting an interview (although not getting an interview does not necessarily mean you did not make the first cut). I would also hazard a guess that if you are contacted for an interview in March, the AO is taking a closer look at your application as the last batch of interview requests are usually sent out by mid-February. I was just asked to conduct one last Friday for a candidate where “context” will matter. The portal stuff related to ID’s or other changes are just routine updates to the system which carry no meaning.

Good to know, thanks!!

What about two pets?

I can be equally confident that applicants with no pets will also be rejected. Two pets is above my pay grade.
