Yale University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

My S24 did not get an interview for Harvard or Penn but did get one for Yale during ED round. Does anyone know in past years what percentage of the deferred population have gotten admitted in RD?

They say around the same admissions rate of deferred students compared to RD applicants. So I would say around 5 percent of deferred students eventually obtain admission.

If that’s true, 75 out of approximately 1500. Damn.

I mean they did say it in the deferral letter. I was deferred as well

Well I still peek into this thread once in a while although the admission season is over and my child was not admitted to Yale. It was a long journey from visiting Yale last April, applying in September, getting deferred in December and ultimately getting denied from Yale in March. My child learned everything about Yale, listened to each podcast during their runs last summer and just loved everything about Yale. Getting deferred in December gave us hope to maybe still get into Yale in March. The wait was brutal and especially towards the end before Ivy Day. To be honest we are so glad it’s over
the surprise though for my child was that they got into Harvard instead of Yale and I have to say we are all excited about this opportunity and are very thankful for it. This was my second time around going through the college process with a child. I have an older child already in college and everything with them went totally different during the admission processes as well.

It all worked out at the end.
How did it go for everyone else? Where are you going to attend college if Yale was a NO for you?

My S24 (also deferred to rejected) is deciding between WUSTL, Carleton, and Vassar–we have visits planned for all three over the next two weekends.

I guess not coincidentally, they all have some Yale-ish qualities to them in my view, and of course back in the day Vassar was actually Yale’s sister college.

Anyway, I am very curious to see what he decides!

Good luck with the final college choice!

Great choices! Best of luck to you and your son. Vassar looks just like Yale.

S24 is deciding between Bowdoin— current first choice, Colby and Vassar.
He is also trying to decide whether or not to submit a LOCI to Dartmouth (waitlisted).
