Yale University ED Application!

Hello, Does anyone know when the ED decisions will be mailed to the applicants?

they will be online 12/15 I think they will be mailed around this date as well

and it’s EA not ED

Oh yeah right you are zkmamdani…its EA…My mistake. Sorry.

no worries, just wanted to let you know that you aren’t bound to go to Yale, although I’m not sure how many of us would actually apply anywhere if we got in

haha…Thanks zkmamdani… I know this fact well before you. Just collecting rejection letter!!! Thanks for letting me know about the mistake I made.
I hope you get into your desired college though!

A rejection letter is still a letter from Yale, and there are a lot of people in the world that don’t have even that kind of a letter  so be thankful ?:P

^ Haha, that made me smile…

I’ve heard that the ivies often let you know their decision the friday before the given date, so we might be getting our decisions on the 12th. I might be way off, but has anyone heard of something similar?

Also, do we get our decision on the application status web site, or do we get it in the mail?

^That would be awesome!! (Friday is the 11th, not the 12th) If you are right, then only 5 more days! The decison are posted online and mailed (I think), but the online decision will reach you first.

Who else here knows that they’re definitely applying to at least one other place if they get into Yale EA?

I might apply to cornell if I don’t get into Yale EA, but probably not.

No matter what happens I’ll be applying to Williams, as it seems like a great school that’s very different from Yale

if yale rejects/defers me, im gonna shoot myself for not doing ED to another one of the ivies

Hey where did you hear that we might get decisions early?!? Has that happened before ? Oh and I also heard that this year to save money of you get rejected and you get on and check your Eli account then Yale will not be sending out actual rejection letters to save money- so yeah that sucks not even a letter or anything for everyone rejected

To stars: Do you have any idea where you heard that? In all likelihood, I wouldn’t be accepted to Yale, so I’d at least like a letter or some sort of item for hoping (like ido.potter said) :(

Kinda makes me want to just wait for the letter to come in the mail. Any idea how long it takes for the mail to arrive?

I’m pretty sure Yale announced this year that they will only send hard copies of acceptance letters (unless otherwise requested?), because many have said that rejection via the Internet and snail mail is a double blow.

See: [Yale Daily News - Rejection letters go paperless](http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/university-news/2009/03/27/rejection-letters-go-paperless/)

Rejection letters will be paperless unless you do not log-in at all to the online notification system.

Thanks EphemeralEternal…Didn’t know this.
So no letter from Yale…Thats bad :frowning:
I was looking forward to one!!! lolz.

Shouldn’t they at least email the applicants?

What they do is wait 72 hours after decisions are up on the server. If the applicant hasn’t checked they automatically email and post the relevant material. If the applicant has checked, they do nothing if the applicant is rejected, and post stuff if deferred/accepted. It seems like a sensible move; I mean, if the applicant already knows their decision, whether good or bad, why unnecessarily remind them of it again via email/post.
