I am only a sophomore in high school, but I have very large ambitions to make it to a top college. I was wondering out of these three colleges, which offer the best medical programs, campus atmospheres, and political diversity? Cost is really not an issue, but I want to make sure that I can start to focus my efforts on a couple of colleges before I start applying and taking the next step in my life.
Thanks!
If you focus on a couple of colleges, you may very well be back in 2 years posting “I got rejected from all my schools” You need a range of affordable options including matches and safeties. Yale and UChicago are reaches for everybody.
@skieurope Yes that makes sense, and they do we have a steady running family business at the moment. But thank you, I feel like I am constantly thinking about these specific ones but I should be more open to other options, thanks!
There are dozens and dozens of threads on this forum talking about these schools, as well as even comparing them. Try doing a little research on your own first. You can just google “compare university of Chicago and Yale” and get a half dozen threads from this site in the first page of results. There are sub forums on almost every top 150 schools.
I’d recommend that you give up the idea of having a few dream schools and when the time comes (next year) work to create a solid college list that includes reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable (find out your parents’ budget and run the net price calculator for each school) and that you would be happy to attend. It is easy to find those dream schools, but IMO it is even more important (and may take more thought) to find a couple of safety schools and a group of match schools that you also love. The people I see who get hurt by the college admission process are the ones who focus on a few very competitive schools and then don’t get in. You need to expand your horizons and recognize that there are many wonderful schools out there where you can have a great 4 year experience and get where you want to go in life.
