I have been reading this post for the past two days. It was reassuring to see how supportive you all were with each other. Everyone was so kind until @CogitoErgoSum16 posted. Even after his arrogant and rude post (full of errors, I might add), many of you tried to respond politely. You even congratulated him on his boasts of the programs he has been accepted into for this Summer. I was pleased that @Yalegirll spoke up and called him on his unfounded aspersions on his fellow applicants. How many of you would want to room with @CogitoErgoSum16 in the fall of 2016? I don't imagine too many hands are going up. His type of arrogant of false superiority seldom goes far in the real world. Hopefully @CogitoErgoSum16 will grow up this Summer and find some humility.
Whether you got into YYGS this Summer or not, please keep on trying to achieve your dreams, even if they seem out of reach. Take some time this Summer to decide what is important to you. Schools will define what they believe deserves praise and reward those things, but you must decide for yourself what matters to you. 2400 SATs, 5s on your APs, and an A+ GPA are all praiseworthy accomplishments, but they are not goals in themselves. What you learn while earning those A's and 5's matters and how you apply and connect that knowledge matters. The grades were merely a crude means of sorting you into groups for the benefit of your schools and the University Admissions officers. CogitoErgoSum16 is right in stating that the tests and "admissions stats" are BS. Your scores do not define you. You are the only one who can define yourself. Decide what truly matters to you and pursue that with your whole heart.
I got accepted to PLE! Looking forward to meet you guys this upcoming summer

@coonfuuseed then I think you shouldn’t go, an internship may even earn money. price is really ridiculous, it won’t worth it anyways for 2 week
Dear @Marie1024,
I am sorry if you got offended from my post. Also I am sorry if you think that I was ‘bragging’ by listing 2 other programs I’m attending. For I do not see attending some nice summer programs would be such an accomplishment, I did not think that it would look like it did to some who think otherwise.
Also I am honest. From this whole discussion my trust in the international community of my peers has significantly decreased, as you all act like we are in a hippie community where we should all love and support each other no matter what our opinions are. I believe that we should indeed respect each other, but when one is wrong, I don’t see any problem with pointing that out. You’re talking to me about the reality, and let me tell you that my philosophy has done me quite well in the ‘real world’. If you call being honest ‘arrogance’ than so be it, I will continue calling futile anxiety stupid. If we all are, as we are supposed to be, globally aware citizens we would get anxiety from conflicts like the Iranian one and the NSA security violation and start doing something about it. But if we all are faking and we are all acting like this utopian perfect people who ‘want to save the world’, and the only thing they want is to get in a good college to get money, then I call YOU the arrogant and the selfish. From YOUR philosophy we get this generation of ‘stellar’ millenians who list their accomplishments and their grades as a medical record and don’t really appreciate what they are doing. Is this prejudice? No, I totally agree that there are exceptions; and Yes, we all know that the majority is as above described.
Tip: As I said, good colleges/ programs are like hot chicks, they don’t follow you when you follow ONLY them- but if you are doing well in whatever you like doing and are passionate about, they will follow you in your success path.
(There are always the hot chicks who will get with you if you have the money- “Summer Schools”)
Deep inside Marie you know there is truth in my words, so, please, save me the BSing.
Sincerely,
CES.
P.S: The post was indeed full of errors, as English is not my native language; it’s my fifth academic language. So yeah… expect mistakes to happen.
please take your negativity away from cc, it’s really not needed here
