Yale Young Global Scholars 2020

@avocadodip I too wrote that I want to learn the art of influencing people … Hope it doesn’t affect my app. … I believe the same as the coach… … His intentions were bad but he was a very good orator and influencer !!!

@avocadodip I didn’t see that one backfiring ??

@Harsh227 I doubt they will accuse you of plagiarising… I feel like Hitler would be quite a popular option given his infamy.

@Harsh227 I said I wished to learn about the extremes of perspectives to best understand perceptions and views

@neelapeela we have given different reasons so it’s all right I guess. Did you apply regular decision ?

@Harsh227 I applied RD, yes. I mean, now that I think of it, Hitler really is going to be a popular choice. But as far as that’s concerned, we chose Hitler instinctively, so that isn’t wrong either.

@Harsh227 I’m gonna be honest, chance me’s especially for summer programs are essentially useless, but just from your stats and ECs you probably have a really good chance. Of course, it will depend on your essays as well as the person reading them.

Hey YYGS 2020! I’m a YYGS 2019 alum and sorry for not being able to help during the apps process… but, if you have any questions about the experience or residential life/activities, I can help answer those questions!

Good luck on acceptances!

@debatemusiclover thank you! Did you sign up for the on-campus admissions interview? If so, how was it? Do you have any tips for the interview? Thanks again :blush:

@geekysandwich I did not, since I was a rising junior then and wasn’t applying, but many people in my friend group did! Here are some suggestions they listed for me:

  1. Schedule it early on during the 2 weeks session. (frankly I don't exactly remember how, but I do believe you fill out a special form just for YYGS students interested in Yale)
  2. Know where the admissions office is and arrive at least 15 minutes early, especially since you're walking there, potentially during class time or activities. Going with someone would be the best, but not always possible.
  3. Dress nice (duh)
  4. Consider it as a conversation. Don't stress out over answering perfectly. From what I heard, one of my friends was talking about a common interest with the interviewer almost the entire time. Be formal/semi-formal (depending on interviewer) yet not overly-prepared.
  5. Know your stuff. DO come prepared with at least some knowledge of the Yale campus. It'll show interest. ASK questions too!

These are the suggestions I’ve been given last year. I hope this helps!

@debatemusiclover thank you so much! The tips are really helpful!

RD Results out soon ?

@neelapeela yes. I’m very anxious for the results. These 15 days feel like a lifetime of wait. ??

Hey guys!
I got accepted to YYGS for PLE II from the 5th to the 17th of July as an international student. Anyone else got accepted to the same program? or others during the same session?

@lb2021 ED?

@neelapeela Yes! What about you?

Anyone heard back for the RD round so far?

@allisonlin000 Atleast I haven’t. I think the results come out all together on 15th March. Till then we sit back and wait xD

Nothing yet here.

I’m dying for the results
