Yay... chance another Asian!!

Here’s what’s up; my first (but maybe unrealistic) choice is Wharton (even though I’d prefer a small-city school, can’t argue with #1). My more reasonable choice (I love the campus) is Cornell’s AEM.

I made a thread in the UPenn forum too, but I’m making another one here because I want to know an approximation of my chances FOR CORNELL’s AEM if I apply

 1. early decision
 2. regular decision

Anyways,

YESSSSSSSSS.

FINALLY AN ASIAN WITHOUT “VIOLIN, PIANO, MATH LEAGUE, SCIENCE OLYMPIAD…” in his resume.

btw, im asian too.

you’re off to a good start cause you’re resume is different from that of the typical asian (which is good), but I have to say that you are lacking in ECs and leadership stuff (which isn’t so good).

you def. have a chance cause of your SATs and GPA, but they might want to see more ECs.

your entrepreneurial activities hold a lot of weight b/c wharton looks for business specific activities. The only kids from my school who got into wharton had decent SAT scores… but they had started their own business.

i don’t get why ppl are being lauded for pretending not to be asian. thats why asians are getting riped of in college admissions no one tries to challenge it.

but anyways. you have terrific scores congrats! if i were you i would early penn instead of cornell if thats were u want to be. u have a legitimate shot.
whats your overall gpa?

the e bay thing is really cool especially for applying to wharton/aem.
your ecs in school are weak.
but i think youd have a good shot ed wharton, great shot at aem ed.

just know that AEM is really selective much more so than agriculture in generall.

wavebrk: yeah i know, under the leadership section I might have absolutely nthing

brown: were their businesses on a similar scale as mine? were they also lacking in EC’s/leadership?

sarah: hmm, im not pretending not to be asian… in fact, my first 2 words in my other post was “Asian male”

My GPA after JUNIOR year will end up being around 4.37-4.40 on a 5.0 scale (you get 4.5 for honors classes, 5.0 for AP classes, and 4.0 for regular classes, so some of the electives I took as a fresh and soph are bringing my GPA down a bit)

Is my GPA really a strong point? I had thought it would be relatively weak since I’ll have a total of 8 AP classes, while others in my school have 10-12 and I have heard of kids from other schools taking up to 15.

are you serious? only 8 AP classes… geez man, what were you thinking, and you still think you have a shot at Wharton?

Meh. I know 8 is decent, but I know plenty of kids will have significantly more (im mainly talking about wharton here). Maybe I’m so pessimistic about my chances because I’ve been so lackadaisical about the process up until now. I’ve just done what I enjoyed and had absolutely no plan/motivation whatsoever. On most days, I don’t even open my bookbag when I get home.

Also… in 8/9 grade I had a different e Bay venture that I did on and off… not big really, netted about $2000. Is this worth mentioning to convey consistency, if nothing else?

And 9th grade Republican Club… I actually worked the polls for Bush (something I regret now), but should I put that in my application or should I leave it out because of possible political differences? It doesn’t mean much anyways :/

25000? Just wanted to say that’s really cool, haha.

I think you are in excellent shape! I wish you the best!
