Yet another chances query

Hi,

Lots of clubs, community volunteer service; summer job as lifeguard & swim lesson instructor

And now, the question mark–ACT 29, taking again, not the best tester

Any chance of getting in if ACT doesn’t go up?

Just curious…

Oops–a mistake there… The freshman and jv basketball stints were in 9,10, not 11,12…

You go to SLUH (or DeSmet) don’t you? I went to Regis Jesuit in Colorado and the awards and activities look very very similar. I do think I would definately take the SAT and re-take your SAT but I do think you would get in as you sit, but it will be closer than you want to be given your test scores. Definately keep working and good luck!

Actually am writing on behalf of someone else. She would have been quite pleased to go to SLUH or DeSmet, but they keep the girls away. Are you a current student?

Yes, I will be a senior at ND next year

Good for you. My son just finished his freshman year there. Do you work in the admissions office? I know they have some students who help there…

Hi ddjones - my son just finished his freshman year at ND, too. My daughter starts there in the fall.

I think this girl has a good shot at ND - Retaking the ACT and getting her score up at least one more point wouldn’t hurt. Bu

Nope, don’t work in admissions but I have been on these boards since my freshman year in high school. Actually this year I am moving over to the boards on SDN.com because I have to start asking questions about graduate school for myself! I hopefully will be on here quite a bit as well but not as much :(. I just have always thought admissions were interesting and have hung around.

You are pretty much in. Your ACT is little below the average (30 - 33, class of 2004), but all of your other material like Extra., GPA, Alumni relation (MOM= big plus, brother= another plus), rigor of secondary school record are quite strong. Make sure you work on your recommendations and essay. Apply early action and you have nothing to worry about. good luck

A QUICK UPDATE: The question I pose now is Early Action or not?

ACT scores came in this morning; she ended up boosting her score to a 31 composite (35 English). Also, in the original post, I forgot to include she is going to be a delegate at Girls State.

The rest, as refresher, is below:

THE QUESTION? Early Action–give it a shot? She will probably take one more whack at the ACT and update her file if she increases it again (thus far, it has been 26, 29, then 31). Not nearly as much pressure, though, I would think…

Am very interested in hearing from all of you!
