I have a white denim jacket with large rhinestones (that have a clear/dark grey cast to them) and pearls (large!) that trims the entire edge of the jacket up the sides and around the collar. It doesn’t trim the bottom. It is a statement jacket for sure.

My question is…can I wear it now in the fall? I was thinking black tank, with either black skirt (tights and boots) or black jeans with black platform shoes. Don’t know if that would look good or not. Maybe I should just keep it for the spring and wear it with jeans (I don’t want to wear it with jeans right this weekend).

I personally don’t like the “no white after labor day” rule. If you love that jacket and you know you will rock the look, who cares what season it is? If you pair it with black rather than other spring colors, it will be more appropriate for fall/winter if you get hung up on the color of the jacket. Just my view.

There is " winter white" but that is actually more a grey or off white.
If it is stark white, I probably wouldn’t wear it, and not with black.
What does it look like with grey that is not very dark?

Winter white things can look great, but they are more about the material.
Corduroy, wool knit, wool tweed. Denim is classic but white is more seasonal.

I was raised no white after Labor Day but I don’t practice that. I go by the weather outside. Today is going to be 80 and I am wearing white denim pants and a tank.
In your case I would probably not wear it if the temp was below 75.

Put it all on - including shoes - and look in the mirror - I think you will get a feel for it it looks right or not. My thought that the shoes is what would make it NOT look right. That if you pull off a sandal which would be “light” (than a solid platform shoe?) that could make it work. But with the white AND the shine of the bling, you might be bringing too much attention to the white jacket in an awkward way.

I don’t follow the “no white after Labor Day rule” - but I would limit in and depending on where you live, limit it depending on the weather that day. I do like winter white - it makes a difference!

I think weather would have a lot to do with it too.
80 degrees?
I’m not putting away my summer stuff with that!

Unfortunately we have now shifted into the " brief sun breaks, until April" time of year. We might just see the sun for 10-15 minutes, or not at all.

There are white winter jackets, scarves, and sweaters… White is not a summer color anymore. That said, there are limitations.

I personally would not wear a white denim jacket with any denim jeans because I do not like denim on denim look, but IMO it is perfectly fine with a black jersey dress, skirt/tank, or ponte pants/tank. It is hard to say if the bling makes the color more muted or makes it brighter. If the latter, I would proceed with caution.

I would wear it. I have a white leather jacket that I wear all fall (not every day as I have lots of other jackets and coats.) I also wear my white jeans in the winter and I don’t live in a warm climate (upstate NY.)

So what shoes do you wear with white jeans?

I had cream wide wale cords, that I wore with natural color short fleece lined suede boots and a cream sweater, that I loved to wear in the winter. I think I’ll shop for a similar outfit, I used to love that.

( watch Scandal for how to wear white. Olivia Pope wears a lot of it)

^I wear shoe boot usually or sometimes a black patent pump with 3" chunky heel. I usually wear a longish black cashmere v neck sweater with them.

If I feel the urge to wear white jeans, I know what it means… So I usually pick darker jeans or skirt, and if I still crave white, I stick to white tops.

Emilybee’s outfit sounds like Ines de la Fressange, the style icon who wears white jeans with aplomb all year round. When she’s not wearing them with boots like Emilybee, she wears them with Roger Vivier flats with the square buckles. I found images but they are all on private blogs; but you can find them by Google imaging “Ines de la Fressange white jeans.”

I think white can be great for winter as long as the fabric is wintry. Lightweight denim or cotton look too summery, but corduroy, wool, leather, or heavy brushed cotton look appropriate. I love off-white or warm white micro cords - I wear them with brown riding boots and a sweater. When in doubt, put it on and see if it feels right - too summery just feels wrong.
