Yet another shoe question.

Yeah, I was sort of thinking the same thing after I wore them with my jeans. i was looking for something not flat, I guess it’s back to DSW.

My cred - my dad was a shoe designer and later president of a shoe company

For jeans, and especially when it’s still cool out and you’re not seeking a sandal, you may want a higher vamp. That is, you want the top of the shoe to come up higher on your foot. Think about loafers - how the throat of the shoe comes up higher than the shoe you posted. Personally, I like a patent or metallic loafer with jeans - grounds the look, keeps your foot more covered. I get lots of use out of Cole Haan bronze patent loafers and a Shoemint light gold metallic loafer - bought years ago, still going strong. Alternatively for a lighter look you can do more of a Belgian shoe loafer look but note it’s still a higher vamp than what you have.

I love the look of ballet slippers (which have less vamp) and splurged on Repettos a few years ago, but they are harder to do with jeans and harder to wear when it’s still chilly out. A vamp like that goes better with capris or cropped pants.

Hope that helps! Your shoe is a nice basic - just not for jeans IMO.

Yku may also want to consider an Oxford in a nice leather. An Oxford in suede is great but more of a fall shoe - a classic brown suede Oxford is the quintessential fall shoe.

That’s not to say you can’t wear low vamp with jeans but if so I’d do so more with skinnier and/or cropped jeans, and in a true flat.

Cole Hann has cute sneaks in suede and in leather. They come in a multitude of colors. They are definitely not gym sneaks.

I also wear their wedges for work.

I couldn’t get links, but go to Colehann.com, then Zergrand perforated trainer. Also, tall grande open toe wedges. For the record, I didn’t pay more then $120 for either shoe.

I think the shoe for jeans will depend on the type of jeans you’re wearing. Skinny jeans? Boyfriend? Cropped? Bootcut? I wouldn’t wear the same shoes with a pair of boyfriend jeans (longer, more “baggy”) than skinny jeans.

Great point. I was kind of assuming non cropped and non skinny.

Boyfriend jeans? That’s a new one on me!

They’re bigger and baggier. They’d go well with a real sporty shoe

I only wear socks with clogs, boots or tennis shoes. Never with heels or flats. I live in the South so I usually don’t have to worry about cold feet or ankles.

“Boyfriend jeans are supposed to look and feel like the jeans a woman might borrow (or steal) from her boyfriend. They have a fairly relaxed fit, usually straight legs that may or may not be cuffed at the bottom, and they should look a bit big on the wearer.”

@conmama, don’t you love how we go from should you wear socks with these shoes to “what type of jeans are you wearing with that shoe?”!!!

I wear these cute sneaks with a rolled up hem jean for a casual look

I’m seeing a lot of shoes like this for spring with jeans: (tan, perforated leather or suede, block stacked heel, high vamp (almost a bootie vamp), sling back).

Look at the shoes, not the jeans. I love these Rag and Bone ones, but they are too expensive for me so I’m looking for the knock-offs

Oxfords are perfect for wearing with business casual or casual looks. They were big last fall and are still going strong. I wear mine with socks if the pants cover the top of the shoe, or with footies if I wear them with ankle pants (but I buy men’s footies, not women’s, because men’s ones cover the toes completely and therefore stay put.)

Now that we are totally off topic, what is with the FLARE crops? I finally realized that they were a dated look and skinny or fitted crop pants were in, and now I am seeing flared crops again??

Sole Society had some shoes like that and I think there are others at DSW. I see that the chunky block heel is in which i like

I had some boyfriend khakis last summer that weren’t so much baggy as they were straight. I am NOT curvy in the hips, and so many women’s pants seem to be designed that way, but boyfriend style solves that problem. Then I lost weight and needed a new pair, but the ones I had (Old Navy petite BF) are no longer made. I discovered new ones at JC Penny’s in the Liz Clairborne line, if anyone is looking.

I’ve seen boyfriend jeans in “skinny”, “relaxed” etc. so they’re not ALL baggy. But all of them sure fit me better than the ones with curves built in.

@surfcity I have some sneakers like that only they are Sketchers. I love them, as they have memory foam not just in the shoe bed but at the heel. I could easily wear them while walking all day without complaint.

Thank you PG…and I love all the help. I just knew they didn’t look right with my jeans after I bought and wore them. I I would take them back if I could. Yes, the casual jeans I mostly wear on the weekends are dark wash and straight. One has a slight boot cut. I did buy these in particular so I could wear a short heel or flat. Thanks for the shoe lesson about the vamp. I’ve already spent money on this, my shoes to wear with the water color dress, the shoes for the watercolor dress that don’t fit and I can’t send back and these for fun…below. Much prettier in person…love them.I might just stick it out one more month until sandal weather or DH might strangle me.

The picture doesn’t do it justice. They absolutely sparkle. I got them in silver to wear with this.

I bought this dress last year for $27 end of season. I love it. I wanted something to dress it up a little.

And yes abasket, I love how these threads evolve!

I wish Athleta dresses weren’t so expensive. I don’t think they are worth the money…like Prana, etc. but they are so pretty. I wait until they are on sale.

Time to pull my old Prada suede wedges (a Bluefly clearance special from years ago!) out of the closet! They look almost exactly like the shoes pictured, except they have a wedge heel.

@Pizzagirl …I bought these. They are actually cuter in person. The material has a nice sheen to it compared to the picture. A nice neutral metallic to go with all colors of tops. Extremely comfortable, too. Thanks for helping me with the vamp! I would have liked some a little more stylish, but for $40 these will work.

Glad to help with matters of vamp
