YNAB (You Need A Budget) Free for College Students

I can’t see that this has been mentioned recently; sorry if this is a repeat topic. Just making sure everybody realizes that your student can get a free copy of You Need a Budget software to use while enrolled as a college student. That’s a great deal! My student is using it and likes it. I’ve started the trial myself recently and it’s going well. Just wanted to spread the word since it’s a free program and your student might appreciate the help with managing their money. Details at the YNAB web site. They have online classes to help you learn the basics.

I use this program as well, and it has really helped me manage my money better.

It is, hands down, the best tool for managing money I’ve ever used. (And I’ve used lots. ) If it has been available when I was in my early 20s, our net worth would probably be five times what it is now – and now isn’t shabby.

I’m just about a week into my trial period and I can already see the value of the awareness it brings to realizing where the money is going and knowing where you are at for the month. The phone app is so handy, too.

How do you get the download for free if you are a college student? Do you have to go through the trial period first?

kgos16, here is a link to their blog entry telling about it. I figure it’s a good thing to grab even if they aren’t sure they’ll use it. My son didn’t try it for a few months, and now he loves it. It replaced all the things he was tracking in Excel anyway.
