We are taking a road trip in May which allows us the ability to make a detour through Yosemite, but we will have the dog with us.

Any suggestions or advice as to the best things to do? I’ll be checking Trip Advisor, but CC is the best.

Although it wasn’t specifically on Yosemite, I saw a great article this morning on how to hike with a dog <a href=“How to Hike With Your Dog: Tips, Rules and Gear”>http://www.mnn.com/family/pets/stories/how-to-hike-with-your-dog-tips-rules-and-great-gear

Google ‘Yosemite dogs’ and you’ll get the NPS regs. Dogs cannot be on unpaved trails or in wilderness areas, for example. They aren’t allowed on the shuttles.

We’ve been to Yosemite many times with our dog. We stay near the southern entrance at Tenaya lodge. The Wauwona meadow trail is dog friendly, as well as most of the valley floor. We’ve parked in the picnic area by El Capitan and walked along the paved path. During off seasons we’ve never had a problem, the rangers even smile and wave at us. Just outside the southern entrance are some nice trails; Jackson road near the lodge and the Lewis creek trail.
