Chance Post! My friend is looking at colleges but is having a lot of trouble where to apply because her gpa and SAT scores don’t match up. Please help! She doesn’t want to be stuck without a college to go to next fall!!!

GPA: 2.93 Class Rank: Top 50%
SAT: M: 600 CR: 610 W:660

Taken AP English and the rest all honors classes, so her weighted GPA is higher.

Fresh/Soph years she went through a lot and ended up emancipating herself from her alcoholic mother last year, which she wrote her essay on (FANTASTIC essay). and has a fantastic recc from her guidance counselor, who explained her GPA (upward trend)

she will not get into holy cross and likely not northeastern either. add some more state colleges to the list and i think she will get into at least some on the lsit.

She should try applying to as many 100% demonstrated need colleges she can. She sounds like she has a unique story. Emphasize that on her essay. Try Mount Holyoke or Smith College
