"You are 'STILL' being considered..."

rye&lakerace&ocean: this might seem like a weird question but are/were there old people in CCs/your classes? (I watch the show Community which is about people at a community college and they have like a gang of old people xD who are like the “mean girls” of the school)

@Andrew69
I only took 1 AP course in HS (Statistics), so I can’t really say much about how they compare to the college equivalent, except that it’s much faster paced in college. For example, 1 year of AP Calculus in HS would be finished in 1 semester in CC.

LOL what a weird question. But yeah, I actually made friends with this 32 year old (although I didn’t really know it at first).

@ ainstuff i took a chinese class at cc ( i was 16 ), there were people from every age group… 3 girls were hitting on me too :D

i think community college courses are much easier than AP classes. AP classes they cram college material into a developing brain. from my experience, taking AP chem and then taking general chemistry, the general chemistry at a CC was the SAME material, but just graded easier. i believe i learned more too.

@ainstuff
Every single one of my classes has ONE “older” person. There’s never none, and there’s never more than one. Kinda weird, but that’s my experience.

@ainstuff

haha yeah i watch that show and i loled at how they exemplify the stereotypes of a CC. people usually don’t stay around the campus at a CC. once they are done with their classes, they go home or go to work. the people in my class varied depending on the class. english courses you have a wide range of students. my science classes, the students are usually around my age. (19, 20-23).

thank god, i thought ap classes were too slow and easy :D

OMG I got waitlisted to UCD. FINALLY SOMETHING GOOD HAS HAPPENED THIS WEEK.

congrats drangon23! can i ask what your major is?

I asked a friend (first year of CC) about the grading system and this is what she says

“The grading system depends on the teacher but its mostly the same a High school (A= 90% - 100%, B 89% -80%…etc.) Like a lot of my classes 15% of it is attendence, then for the classes that give homework (few do so far for me) its about 15- 30% and the rest is tests and essays. Also a lot of teachers will drop your lowest test score. Like my math class there are 3 tests + final and he will drop out lowest test score at the end of the semester. As for homeowrk I only have two classes…no three that give me homework and thats my creative writing (not transferable sadly), History of the nAtive American (which hw is just reading, and my Math class (hw is graded on completion).Like I said its really relaxed, and you do save a lot of money.”

Dunno if this applies to all CCs, but the i’m going to will be like this i guess.

LOL Andrew, you are so stuffed of testosterone

lol thank you guys for answering my questions :smiley: lol I don’t have anything against old people… It’s just going to be weird especially if they happen to know my parents or something O_O xD

OMG I love it when teachers drop the lowest test score TT__TT xD

I put undeclared…lol.

@monkeyshinobi
That’s pretty much how my CC grades too. It all depends on the prof, but there are some similarities (dropping the lowest test grade, relatively low amount of required HW)

@ ainstuff not even, i am just cute.

yea, community is not that hard :D… here i come baby. plus i save money which is a plus

CCC is more fun. UC seems like work work work. In summer, we got to watch lots of cool, interesting films and there was a field trip o_o It was like high school except people actually want to learn. And yeah the grading is like HS too…all this discussion about CCC is making want to go back this summer…and making me dread spring quarter as well. :stuck_out_tongue: I really don’t like the quarter system…

WIN :smiley: Just gotta keep up a good work ethic and NOT procrastinate XD

For all the guys who attend ccc, which class do a lot of girls take?
