You Know You Go to an Upper-Class High School if...

Below 1500 is a “so-so” SAT I score

Below 700 is a bad SAT II score

You recall your Jamaican nanny with great fondness

Your sixteenth birthday present: jeep

You’re hopelessly bourgeois and/or you use the word "bourgeois"frequently when referring to peers. You mock the “nouveau riche”.

Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, Lacoste…

110+ lbs = fat as a cow

When asked, you identify yourself as “upper middle-class”

You hate everyone in your grade.

You think people at your school are spoiled.

Your mother went to a great college, and now does nothing.
*Except help out at school events.

Your grade has a token anorexic.

Dave Matthews.

Your math teacher’s a woman.

Your history teacher’s a man.

Some teachers are perverts.

You hear the word “community” twenty times a year.

You’re black and going to prep school?–90% chance you’re on financial aid.

You own your own horse, and are not shy about letting the world know.

You’ve never been to a school dance.

You’re waiting for the day they cast bronze statues out of the girls soccer team.

At any moment you can name the smartest student at the school.

You know plenty of people from Greenwich and Rye.

Your parents don’t care what you’re doing on any given saturday night.

Your parents (knowingly) supplied the alcohol for your last big party.

Every new year brings you closer to the trust fund.

You have to schedule in time to see your father.

You’re no more than three degrees from knowing someone sort of famous and/or powerful–ex: editor of the ny times, president clinton, kenneth cole, mario cuomo, royal family of monaco.

You don’t use suntan lotion on your trips to fabulous caribbean isles (i.e. Nevis) during spring break.

People sometimes find it hard to tell when you’re being sarcastic or serious.

Your parents aren’t divorced but they’re not exactly living in a state of marital bliss.

The only reason you’re in a good college is because representatives from your high school drove up and bullied the admissions officers.

Mommy’s a trustee, Daddy’s a trustee, cousin’s a trustee, Auntie’s a trustee…

Your japanese father is a banker

You sexually harassed a teacher and raped a fellow student, but it was ok, because you had the right last name.

woooow, so much of this applies that it is scary. wicked list, thanks for posting this.

but below a 1400 is considered a “bad” SAT score at my school

this one was the best:
People sometimes find it hard to tell when you’re being sarcastic or serious.

this happens to me all the time, because i never use a sarcastic tone anymore - it’s best to assume that I’m always being sarcastic!

then i go to like a 90% upper-class high school

My personal favorite:

You recall your Jamaican nanny with great fondness

Oh how I miss Henrietta :(

Lol. some of this is true some of it isn’t.

some true, some not. 1520, my SAT score, really IS so-so at my school (at least, it is for the kids who took it, but since i’m from Canada, the only ones who did are the ones who are really serious about going south.)

my sisters/brother (whom i do not live with) DO have a black nanny, she could be from Jamaica, i don’t know for sure…

but i love everyone in my grade. they’re the best people i’ve ever known. completely unspoiled.

when u wear a shirt and a tie and a jacket to go to school…

wow a nanny. Mary Poppins is the only suitable nanny ;)

95% true… wow…

You’re black and going to prep school?–90% chance you’re on financial aid… so true.

97% true…scary…

Haha. That sounds like my school.

that sounds cuuuute lol. what a nice little school. glad my school isnt like that

90% my school,esp. the below 1500 bit

wow seriously i could identify with 95% of that at my prep school

i told my friend about the orchestra final (f major, d chromatic, and the warm-ups) during physics. he was like “wow, thats hard.” i corrected him, saying “actually, it wasnt that bad.” but he answered me by saying “dude, it’s called sarcasm…you should learn it some time, it can be pretty useful.”
so true, so true…

the last one soooooo applies to me

Hmm that would be me! :D

Check this out: http://us.f2.yahoofs.com/users/41854ce2zd0993d7d/mercurysquad/__sr_/4c33.jpg?pfhPvtBBHY4NZRg9</a>
… thats what we wore daily to school

Other things that (sadly) apply to me:
*Your math teacher’s a woman.
Your history teacher’s a man.
You’ve never been to a school dance./i
*You’re no more than three degrees from knowing someone sort of famous and/or powerful–ex: editor of the ny times, president clinton, kenneth cole, mario cuomo, royal family of monaco./i)

But I’m probably the poorest guy here hehehe

Whatever…:p

“You know plenty of people from Greenwich and Rye”

Bloody hell! I used to live in one of those towns! LOL. WHOA. Most of this is very, very applicable. It’s all true! All you need is mention of lacrosse, and you’re golden. My only sticking point would be that “your japanese father is a banker” bit. Diversity–what diversity? For each grade there are like three or four Asian(or half-Asian) kids, one or two black(or half-black) kids, and a few Latinos(there’s a Latino-majority town next door…). If you’re half-anything, it’s usually your dad who was white. But whatever…probably that’s a West Coast thing. This thread is still so…spot on. Scary.

Is Princeton like this?

Thats a good observation, and so true.
