The pictures on the College Board website start to annoy you. Can’t they use some new ones? Or at least put the “caring mom” in a different color shirt?

You start to think of fin aid as “equitable distribution” in a divorce. They get the house; you get the kids. Unfair, and final.

You seriously consider moving to Utah so your child will be applying from an underrepresented state.

You rent a movie like “Winter’s Bone” and all you can think of is: I bet Ree could write a really great essay.

All your stress will be over in just a few weeks or months. By next year, you’ll be writing to your college freshman kid about how he/she celebrated Halloween and what was her/his costume. My son was Blue Tele-Tubby. I don’t think he ever saw Tele-Tubbies before.

They learn so many new things in college! Enjoy senior year!

You know you are losing it when you’re watching “Friday Night Lights” and you start criticizing the college list of one of the characters. Everyone knows that a kid from Texas who’s in the top 8% of her class but is looking for financial aid shouldn’t be thinking about applying to a UC, how could the screenwriters be so clueless? :)

SlitheyTove - yes!!! I love that show, but I too was bothered by the writers’ cluelessness about financial aid. Some of those kids would get Pell grants! Maybe SEOG’s! So apply!

you know you are losing it around your house when the youngest of 3, just a h.s. freshman, is already perusing college websites and determining what kind of on campus housing would be acceptable to her…lol !

More “Friday Night Lights” college madness: a mother telling her daughter that no, she cannot go on an overnight trip unless she has three early decision acceptances. No, no, no, that’s EA, not ED!!! Sheesh!

I told this to D1, who just rolled her eyes and laughed.

It makes me wonder how many football-related howlers I’m missing. Ignorance is bliss. :)
