When I think of my son as “S2” in my head.

When my first thought whenever I read an interesting college-related article is that I need to post it on CC.

Ah man, someone moved my thread to the parent cafe

:(

I tell the seniors to go look up my previous posts so I don’t have to write it all again.

When college football season starts and you wonder what a fellow ccer you pm’d last year to “talk” football thinks of this year’s team.

My H complains that everything that doesn’t get done is because I’m on “that %$#@ CC again” – yet LOVES that my legwork helped us find some great schools, negotiate FA and in general, saved us $$$$$ because he originally wanted to pay for a college admissions counselor.

tututaxi,
how does an old-timers thread violate rules?

thanks for clarification. perhaps try again, without the names?

My S made a career change since graduation. One friend did the same. It helps to read about other people’ progressions. I also recall people having health problem, and hope to hear what has happened. At some point, hope to hear more about emergence of social lives.

I don’t think any of the “ode to old posters” type threads are ok. I’d let that go.

I just thought that he/she had an inside track and was either a cc moderator in disguise or a cc owner…someone with a great sense of humor…I think its hilarious!!

Fogfog,
Nope, not a moderator or CC owner. No inside track. ;)

so so true!

When you want to try a new vacation spot and you rely on your CC friends to tell you where to stay!

… when you think “it’s faster to ask on CC than it is to try and find this myself…”

…when you remember the old CC system prior to the major revamp 5 or so years ago.

^^ and you remember with fondness the classic “urban mound builders” thread from the old (classic) forum.

(and let’s not forget those of us who came over from that other not-to-be-mentioned college information forum)

Are you that old, too, DMD, in 2000 when I found CC there were not many posts, you could check it once a week, whereas that forum whose name shall not be said aloud was much busier.

Hope that helps ;)

Somemom: let’s put it this way… I started hunting for college info when my DD was in the fall of her junior year. She graduated from college in 2007.

My oldest got her first degree in 2006 and I, too, began in her junior year…I don’t think I hit it in grade 10, which would have been 1999!

But, besides the fount of information that is the cafe, I also have two younger DDs who have now completed undergrad and, now, 2 in grad school, all of which have been researched here.

… when, each year, you know at least a little bit about every college any one of the 70 or 80 band seniors are heading to, as listed in the H.S. spring band program every May…
