You MUST see this!!!

This is crazy!!!

http://gprime.net/video/blindfoldedmariopianist2.php

Is Anyone on this site able to play THIS?

I can play the first song…un-blindfolded…lol :)

Checkout the last song…It’s freaking crazy.

dude… that’s insane!!!

after playing the piano for a decent amount of time, wouldnt you be able to sorta “memorize” where the keys are, and play practically anything blind-folded?

well except for that last song, that’s just insanity.

Yeah… you eventually memorize where the keys are, but those songs are just so incredibly hard. He only did the first song blindfolded though. Imagine howmuch practice it must take to play all of hthose songs consecutively…

P.S. I love Mario

lol thats not very hard

most piano players play with their eyes closed anyways. u memorize where the keys are after many years of playing

I looked this guy up a while back. He’s a world reknowned pianist. He is quite possibly the best in his age bracket. What he is doing is no mean feat. Imagine transcribing and orchestrating the Super Mario Bros. theme song. That was easy, no? Now imagine playing it at full speed. Now imagine playing it at full speed with your eyes closed. Now imagine playing it at full speed with your eyes closed for a full eight straight minutes. . .

The final song is too fast to use a metronome on. You’d need to use an automatic weapon to get beats that fast.

EDIT: Much of what he was playing was improvised on the spot. The music was written in MIDI for a computer, after all. There are no hard copies of those songs.

He has other awesome songs on his site (Zelda, Maroon 5, John Lenon) as well.

Don’t really get the point of the blindfold though… most musicians hardly look at the keys anyway.

Still though… great memories. I never realized Zelda had so much great music. Too bad I only played like 1.2 games in my entire life…

yeah, a musician can tell its improvised

its still impressive

You want to see some impressive mario video- find the video of someone beating the entire game in 11 minutes. That was freaking unbelievable. Someone had way too much time on their hands, but it was great.

I SAW THAT ONE! it’s figgin unbelievable. It’s truely amazing. It’s @ ebaumsworld i think. it’s very good.
Btw, i love this pianist-video, too! So well done. Improvised??? It’s great. Made an mp3 out of it…hehe.

wow, now i feel like playing super mario world on super nintendo. oh how i loved that game, brings back so many memories.

Actually, the only one that was truly technical was the Castle Theme from Super Mario World. I don’t think this is improvised though, because he seems to be very familiar with all the material.

Overall, it was good.

You guys have a point… now that I look back it does seem improvised. I just think that this point just makes the pianist seem all the more incredible being able to think at that speed.

I’ve seen that video where he beats the game in 11 minutes, it’s insane.

im pretty sure its not improvised, he even has link to a page with the sheet music for all those songs.

I’ll buy a piano just to ‘reenact’ this moment…

How much do pianos cost? 5 G’s?

@iwannabe_Brown: If you read the eBaums World FAQ and his personal website, you’ll understand what was and wasn’t improvised.
