You need science knowledge for the new ACT format.

Hi, I am retaking the ACT in December. I already have a 32 in Science, but that was in June (before the Science format changed to rely more on knowledge). That was easy, as all it required was reading the questions first and doing the easy passages first. But, I noticed that the format and types of questions now rely more on outside knowledge. What specifically do I need to know in terms of outside knowledge for the ACT coming up? Would this be enough? http://blog.prepscholar.com/the-only-actual-science-you-have-to-know-for-act-science
Also new strategies would be appreciated.

On my ACT (December 2014), there were two outside knowledge questions:

  • Combustiom chemical equation
  • Punnett squares
However, having “background” knowledge in the subject area being assessed does make the questions easier.
Taking high school science courses is sufficient preparation.

@1golfer1 Don’t really remember much from HS science courses…

@HereToHelpYou I know you have the answer

@cappex the material outlined in the link would be very helpful to know.

Expect 4 to 6 prior knowledge questions in science.
