I am considering 2 colleges: The Ohio State University and The University of Chicago. Obviously, the latter is superior, but the decision is made difficult due to financial reasons. With scholarships, Ohio State comes down to $13,500. The University of Chicago comes down to about $34,000 per year. Let’s assume that, at that price, I will go into about $8,000-$12,500 worth of debt per year. Normally, that would make UChicago an easy choice, but one of the tricky things is that I would like to major in political science, and that’s one of Ohio State’s strongest majors. Ranked top 20 in the country. I can still get a very good education for what I want to do at Ohio State. All things considered, I think the answer to this question will be my deciding factor: How much will a younger sibling entering college change my financial aid? I have no older siblings, but one brother two years my younger. I would be going into less debt at UChicago but he gets half of my college fund, and he’s a smart enough kid to use it. I know that financial aid changes from year to year, and that, when my younger brother enters college, my financial aid package will improve as colleges will be able to see that my parents are putting 2 kids through college. I would just like to know how much.

Run the net price calculator for UChicago and do one estimate for one child in school (you) and one for two children in school. That will give you a rough estimate.
