Your child's grade school pictures?

I’m nearing the end of my month long photo reorganization. What a messy, crazy, fun journey it has been. I feel so organized and much better not having all photos in shoe boxes.

What to do with the school photos? You know…the packets with tons of various sizes that you might have given out one or two, and displayed one…the ones where there are 1 8x10, 2 5x7 and 5000 wallets? Up until now, I’ve saved them all, but that is ridiculous. Do I just save the big ones and get rid of the others? Put all grades in one envelope, Mark the grade? Ugh…the large memorabilia is hard to store.

Scan the big ones

I have all the 8x10’s in a single frame–I just put the new one on top.

I don’t particularly have any advice on what to do with the bazillion others in the packages, except to say I would keep a strip of wallets from each grade (labeled on the back!) in an envelope for each kid. every once in a while people need small pictures from childhood–whether its a project, a throwback Thursday or their own kids school project…

i’d probably just toss the rest.

I took the wallets, glue-sticked them to index weight paper in a vertical row, laminated that, and stuck the resulting bookmarks in their stockings for Christmas. Also gave the grandparents and girlfriends same bookmarks. Threw the rest out!

I did what kac425 mentioned. One 8 x 10 frame, stacked them up inside.

Maybe save one of each grade and give them to the child whose picture it is. Throw the rest away - they were for giving and since they haven’t been given years later - time to say bye bye!!!

Ok…thanks all. I’m going to save the big one, and just a few little ones each year.

I bought one of those frames at a craft store that is specifically for a picture from kindergarten through senior year. It’s designed to use the wallet size for K-11, and a medium size (4 x 6?) for senior year. I displayed it at their senior graduation party. The rest I tossed.

We only had pictures up until 6th grade. One wallet size from each year is in that section of my kids’ baby books…which were religiously updated and kept up until they entered middle school. We never kept the rest of the pictures.
