Speaking of imagining an age…a little while ago, I answered the door and there were Jehovah’s Witnesses. I tried to be polite though I get bothered by having someone come to my home for this even though I understand their “mission.” So, they asked me if I have family/children and I said, yes, they are in college. And they got taken back and said, “no way…we thought you were a teenager…well maybe not a teenager but never would imagine you to have college kids!” So, as annoying as having to deal with a ten min. interchange with them politely, I must say they made my day. I definitely do not look anything like a teenager. I am 50. I have been married 30 years. I am told that I look young but I don’t think I really look that that young. So, if you want to picture me ten years younger, I will take it.

The bonus of ten pounds lighter, I would take, thank you.

do you get flirted by young men like berurah?

. ^____ very funny, simba

Simba…berurah gets flirted by young men? I missed that. But she is likely younger than me. :D

I rarely get “flirted” as I am not typically in social situations without my husband very often. I don’t look “hot” either, LOL.

However, I do recall a couple of years ago at age 47, when my daughter was attending dress reheasal at a theater that is 50 miles away and she didn’t yet drive and so it meant driving to that city and hanging around in the evening for several hours some place as they did not let anyone not associated with the show into the theater. So, to kill time, I went out to dinner up the street. I ate dinner at the bar because I was alone and this establishment also has patrons eating at the bar, besides tables. The whole time, a young man next to me chatted with me. I explained why I was in the city and how I had a 16 year old in rehearsal at the theater, another in college, etc. It was a friendly chat. He was about 30, way younger, and I must say a handsome pilot. When I left, he wanted to give me his number! Definitely a flattering moment. However, I am very married. That’s about all I can think of. Otherwise, my life is very dull. :D

Okay, Soozie, the way I read that paragraph, you’re very married, and therefore your life is not dull. Thank you. This applies to me, too, and I’ve been married longer than you.
I’ll take the bonus twenty pounds lighter, thank you.

I get flirted on by the older gentlemen at the YMCA. Of course, they flirt with everyone under 70.

simba, you have WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too great a memory!!

Jeeze, write about one little thing on these boards, and simba goes and brings it back up!!! ROFL

I’m not complaining though…I got my last two car repairs for FREE. What can I say?? The guy likes me! ;)

~berurah
p.s. I got carded buying wine coolers last weekend, but they said they card everyone who looks under 35…ROFL That girl was delusional. ;)

In case you’re wondering… a Michelle Pfeiffer-in-her-prime look alike here.

;)

OK, Imagine Nicole Kidman with one of her earlier hair colors.

DH, though, he’s more the Mel Gibson type than Tom.

Bond. James Bond.

^^
Dad. WashDad.

WasDad – which James Bond? (Please say Sean Connery.)

Hagrid. Rubeus Hagrid.

WashDad, definitely Sean.
BassDad, cute, but scary.

We all know TheDad is Johnny Depp in mufti.

That would be Sean Connery, but I have to say that if they had cast Pierce Brosnan as Bond 15-20 years earlier, he would have been practically Connerian.

(Since WashMom has had a crush on Sean her whole adult life, it would be good for me if I did look like the Auld Scot.)

I thought we all did an awesome job describing Curmudgeon in the “Where in the world is Curmudgeon” thread:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=339886&highlight=curmudgeon

Its fun to bring this topic around again. Anyone happen to remember what the previous threads about this were titled? We can resurrect the personal descriptions and guesses.

Last week we were out to dinner with some vendors, a woman from the company’s regional office and a local rep. Long story short, the woman (who has 1 son in college and one who just graduated) insisted, during the course of the conversation, that she was much older than I, and kept pushing me to tell how old I am. Now usually these folks do everything they can to wine and dine you and make you feel good, so I assume she was doing her best to flatter me. I kept dodging her question, and finally told her when I graduated college… which was 4 years before she did! She dropped the subject!

I was more flattered when a guy tried to pick me up in one of those big warehouse shopping stores a few months ago. The first thing I did was call my husband!

My SIL is 45 and doesn’t look a day over 20. Seriously. She used to be a gymnast and is still 5’4" and 88 lbs. Gets carded all the time. Her mom also looked extremely young – the luck of the genes, I guess! I’ll take the 20 lb. discount and raise you another 10!

My sister is 6 years younger than me, but looks even younger, especially from a little distance. And she married late and had kids late (and divorced early). A few years back, she went to church with me, and I held her baby. Someone asked me if the baby was my grandchild. My sister has never let me live it down. (My oldest IS old enough to have a kid. There are 20 years between my oldest and her youngest.)

After today, if you imagine me bald, you will probably be pretty close to accurate. (If you are reading my fiasco thread, you understand.)
