I get a lot of my clothes at thrift stores- but it is also hit or miss & I really hate trying stuff on & going back & forth to the rack. It is also so exhausting that I feel like I have to buy something just to not feel like I wasted my time- but anyhoo- I just bought a lot of stuff online- after reading the reviews and thinking about it.

One dress that I bought- was over a hundred from the eileen fisher website ( but still it was $70 cheaper than at the saks site- plus it is organic linen- this will go over well in Seattle) it also looks like it will be very versatile ( I used to love her stuff- then I decided I liked more structure.
So if it works it will be a great deal-

Im also sitting here with an enormous pile of clothes on the bed, vowing to get rid of things that have bleach/stains/rips/ etc, instead of trying to camoflauge that!
I am a grown-up dammit!
( & I donāt have to buy things- for when I lose weight/get taller whatever
I do still have things from before I had a breast reduction - so I have to really be heartless to see if they fit.
Plus now that I had my hair lightened ( to remove the henna that was camouflaging the fact that my hair has faded to a palish strawberry), the colors look different on me too.

I wish I could drag D2 around to help me shop, she has a really good eye
( perhaps that is why she can do a 30 sec scan of the store to see if it is even worth her time- )

I bring H occasionally- but he is no help at all- everything is fine- if he had his way I would dress like Kim Kardashian ( although he was perfectly agreeable when I had the reduction)

I have been making more room in the basement, so we can get stuff out of the way upstairs to make interior painting easier- so I am in the mood to go through everything I still am hanging on to ( thank goodness nothing from the '70s- I think they went to D2s costume closet for camp).
Shopping your closet/basement is very * on trend* in this economy- :)

woohoo! Update! Checked on line and one running shoes website had the shoes I wanted deeply discounted because they only had one size left-- my size! The s&h (second day air) was free and the price was about 22% less than rue la la (60% off original price) AND I still have the added $20 credit on my Rue La La account! The shoes came today-- they are on my feet. Right style and color!

You can call REI & ask them to send you a check instead. Thatās what I did because I didnāt need any REI gear when I got my dividend either. $$$, I can always use. :)

You can use the REI dividend to buy something for your 72 hour emergency kit that youāll grab as you run for the door during an earthquake or tsunamiā¦

My āLittle Inchā undercabinet lights have been on the blink for awhile now so last week I finally brought up their website to see how to purchase replacement ballasts for them. Turns out they come with a lifetime warranty so I just received the replacements free of charge.

Coupons which expire May 31 2011 for 3M Command products - great for setting up dorm rooms. For some schools, this is the only āapprovedā way to adhere things to the walls.

Walked into Sears to do a return, and Landsā End had had all of their āpink ticketā items (lots not marked with a pink ticket, but part of the deal) on clearance for 6.99 per item! I did not find much in the menās department, but I did find a LOT in the womenās department! I bought pants, sweaters, cotton shirts, and scarves. For those who like their new Canvas department, there were lots of things marked at 60% off and a few items for 6.99 as well.

Another LandsāEnd deal: flannel sheets (from Portugal) and cotton knit sheets in twin XL are available on their Overstocks page. LE has a coupon code, FAMILYSHARE, PIN:6319, that provides free S&H and takes 30% off, even for sale items. I just ordered some king size bedding for us, but happened to see the twin xl size, too.

H wore out the soles of his tennis shoes. I checked on Zappos and found the same shoe on sale. H had received the shoe from his parents along with a new racquet for his birthday 4 months ago. My H had me check the price at another website (where the shoes had been purchased). First thing I notice is that Wilson guaranteed the outsole for 6 months. H called and they are shipping him a brand new pair. Saving $100
Most odd request at our house- D wants to purchase a minature donkey!

My good buy of the day was a pair of Perry Ellis America plain ādad jeansā at Marshalls for $14.99. I had to laugh. They were made in Mexico and marked as irregular. I think what was āirregularā was the little metal studs at the corners of the pockets on jeans said āMemberās Markā. Thatās Sams Clubās private label brand. Ooops. Looks like the factory used the wrong doodads on the wrong customerās jeans.

BTW, if any of yaāll are shopping for college sons, Marshalls and TJ Maxx have a boatload of D2 Dockers khakis. D2ās are the straght cut version ā not hipster skinny (those are D1s), but lower at the waist and slimmer in the legs than the D3 regular fit. The ones that most college kids would wear. These are soft khakis, wrinkly out of the dryer, not dress pants. An alternative to jeans. Theyāve got 'em in a lot of basic colors (khaki, black, etc.). All lengths. $14.99

Been shoe shopping at Sierra Trading Post this week. I got some Mephisto sandals for $56.45, regular price $100-$120 depending on where you shop. Also got Saucony Ride running shoes (reg. price $99) for 45.69. My summer shoe wardrobe is complete!
