This thread inspired me to splurge (oh well, helping the economy) & buy new bras that fit properly. I guess it’s an investment in myself? Hubby is happy with the new purchases
Unfortunately, they weren’t on sale but the saleswoman was very helpful and friendly (though not all that knowledgable). Yea, I was wearing the wrong size :)

Roundtrip? One way? I usually end up flying Hawaiian to San Diego…

cptofthehouse,
I am sure that the celebration meant more than you will ever know to your mother in law. I hope that you took family photos :)

cptofthehouse, check the thread about experiences vs. material things, and it will make you feel much better!

Yes, it’s HNL to San Diego on Hawaiian–a round-trip, non-stop with food included! The nearest competitor wanted over $100 more, would have had us stop in LA & not feed us any food.
Right after I purchased the ticket, the price jumped temporarily up another $50/ticket & all websites other than Hawaiian listed the lowest fare to be considerably higher than the $450/ticket we paid. Since we bought 2 tickets, we were glad to have locked in the fare and seats. There still seem to be a few more seats a the fares I purchased at when I’ve checked more recently but nothing lower.

cptofthehouse, long term, you can’t do anything more valuable than having great memories with your loved ones and family! Over the years, we have spent $ & time building happy travel memories with the kids instead of getting new cars or other material things and have no regrets. The kids have very fond memories of the trips that cemented the bonds we have as a family & they call upon the memories of happy times to sustain them in tough times (which they’ve had a lot of).

Woot Off today!

Great job, HImom. Just know that Hawaiian charges for baggage, so remind the kids to carry on their stuff.

Haven’t actually “bought” it yet, but got an email from Ruby Tuesday today (through their Get Connected email newsletter I signed up for through their website- I only get things MAYBE once a month) for “Buy one entree, get one free”! I think it mentioned that if you signed up they would email you the coupon. The restaurants really must be hurting! Usually it’s for a free appetizer or something, not a whole entree!

I did take a lot of photos, and I am taking a deep breath and trying to enjoy. But it was not a good decision. So much I could have done with the money if only I had planned better. That’s the tough thing around here. Many expensive places and things. You really have to tread carefully and check the prices. I didn’t do it. Wanted some place near the nursing home that had a nice brunch so I took. What do I expect from Greenwich?

My wife loves Maine winter socks from LL Bean. Around Christmas they were selling them at nearly $17 a pair. I just happened to check their website yesterday and they were half price, plus I had a $10 gift card they sent with a previous order. I ended up getting three pair for about $17. I think that was a great deal!

Actually, Ellemonope, the tickets are for me & a collegue to attend a conference. The kdis seem to want to stay put in LA instead of joining me & hubby has opted not to join us either.

Good find FLVADAD! I live Thorlo socks & was able to get a good deal on them–instead of over $15 apiece plus shipping, I got 4 pairs for $37 (including shipping). It was more than I’m used to paying for socks but am happy to no longer get blisters!

Also found some lingerine at Macy’s–on sale for good prices (about 50% off). They told me they will hold them for me because they will be further reduced on Friday–down from $17.50-15 to $9.99. The one that was full price will be 40% off! They were very nice to check & hold everything for me. I think I was one of the few customers in the entire department!

So excited about this great buy!

Had to take my son to JC Penney Salon for a haircut tonight. Was browsing the store while he got his cut. Not a huge JCP shopper but occasionally will find something. Bingo! Went by the luggage area and saw this BEAUTIFUL brown leather purse/briefcase with insert for laptop, lots of pockets, nice handles - originally $140, on sale for $19.97!!!

AND! I had a JCP $10 off anything coupon…so…$140 leather bag for $9.97!!! While I would definitely take it for myself, I think I will give it to my D who is a college sophomore. She has a couple of internship interviews coming up and a conference she’ll be going to so I think it will come in handy for her laptop, portfolio, etc.

I love a good buy!!!

Now that’s a steal! Good for you!

I needed a small gift, found a Vera Bradley folder/notepad, pockets, etc at TJMaxx for $4.99. It’s about 4 X6 or so, fit’s in a purse. They actually had a number of Vera Bradley stationery items–files, notebooks, file boxes, bulletin boards.

abasket, yup, JC Penney’s clearance was amazing this year. About 2 weeks ago I went there, armed with a coupon, and most winter items were 50% the reduced price (before coupon). I spent $65 and I walked out of there with men’s shirts, sweaters, and 2 pairs of men’s leather gloves. The gloves alone originally retailed for $45. I got them for $8/pair after coupon.

Nordstrom is starting a new logo for its makeup and getting rid of its old for $1 a piece. check it out on eyslipsface.com/home. I think the code CAROLINA will give you half off shipping. Great bargains there!

Sorry, it’s eyeslipsface. It’s the ELF line.

Great find cptofthehouse - I just ordered several things - coupon code RADIO works too - may be better if certain things are ordered. Google coupon code eyeslipsface and look at all the codes to see which is best. You can try them to see which saves more.

As a tip, JCPenney’s does have some great furniture finds for reasonable prices. I’ve found cheaper duplicates of items that are quite popular.

Just bought 4 bras at Macy’s. The “regular price” of each was $29-$34; totah price for all of them just over $51! This compares with over $260 for 4 bras at Nordstrom!

Will look at Nordstrom makeup.
