LLBean does have the 10% fairly frequently (20% if you have an LLBean Visa) . Often it’s around a holiday - they just had it last weekend - not sure if it’s 10%/20% off order or one item.
A while ago, I thought someone posted a link to a $20 gift card offer if you purchased a Sam’s Club membership in January. I used the link and had to give them my email address and they emailed me the voucher. Now my sister would like to use it, but it’s one use only and I can’t figure out where I originally clicked to find it. Anybody have an idea?
@nj2011mom – have you checked with Lands’ End Business? I used them when ordering swim team merchandise. They embroidered logo and individual swimmers’ names on tote bags, towels, and something else I have forgotten. I have stopped paying attention as I am out of that ‘business’ now, but they sometimes offer free embroidery or other promos.
If you presently use a local merchant for embroidery, you can have the local merchant email the ‘tape’ file to Lands End, although the local merchant will try to have you buy from him. IIRC, I think I had Lands End email the tape to the local merchant. I only mention this as the tape set up charge can be high (varies with number of threads, size & complexity of logo, # of colors, etc) but I think the tape creation may have cost $150 or so.
It was neither a Living Social nor a Groupon but I can’t remember where I found it. I had to click on a link, give them my email and they sent me the coupon that I had to print out and take to Sam’s. It is only good in January. I guess if I didn’t find it here I have no idea where else it could have been.
i spent two hours at the Nordstrom Rack yesterday trying to find shoes for H.
( the sizes were mixed up and someone kept taking my cart, and putting the shoes I was looking at back)
I finally found some that I thought would work, but when I got home under better lighting, I decided I didn’t like them.
( they were too shiny, and since he only wears jeans, I thought they would look odd).
On a whim, we bought a few stocks using a book and a website. One of the stocks we bought went up 72% and then was bought out for cash + stock by the new company in August. The new company’s stock has gone up 72% and so now, we have the cash + the new, appreciated stock. If we wait until after August to sell it, we will be able to have it be long term capital gain. All the other stocks went up too, but it has been a bull market. Still, we are pleased that this one stock has done so well.
(Of course, we have lost tons in the stock market too–individual stocks and expensive managed mutual funds–and are migrating toward low cost index funds and ETFs instead.)
Just bought some cute cookies from Cheryl’s Cookies to send to a friend, sister, and kids. $9.99 for 6 cookies for Valentine’s Day which includes shipping and gift message. Ladybug Cookie Sampler #140301.
Thanks, abasket, I like Cheryl’s cookies, too. I’m always happy to find something under $10 with shipping included that is good and that just can let somebody know you’re thinking of them. I said "Ladybug " Cookie sampler but it is actually Love Bug Cookie Sampler. The # is right, # 140301, in case anyone else is trying to find it on their website.
PENZYS SPICE market, has reduced the minimum free Shipping down from $30 to $20 due to storm in New England. Don’t worry if website doesn’t reflect the $20 limit, I ordered and it applied it a check out. DEAL ENDS THURSDAY
So funny about Penzey’s average price. I do seem to spend +/- $20 each time I go in there, and it is a little inconvenient to get there. Thanks for the post!
@jym626 – it is a spice store and it is really easy to spend $30 on spices and related items. I cook, but I don’t bake. Staples include peppercorns, a few different salts, sesame seeds, dried Rosemary, Thyme & Tarragon, dried mustard, and then everything that goes in a couple of chili recipes (chili powder, cumin, cayenne, etc). All the same things you would buy at the grocery store but much fresher and less expensive.
We have been eating far too much red meat and red roasted potatoes this cold winter and I have been going through rosemary & thyme like mad in both the marinade for the beef and on the roasted potatoes.
