Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

It looks like when the free student Amazon Prime membership expires in 6 months, they will switch you to the year membership for &49. DS’s free student account will expire in 3 days. It looks to me that if he does nothing, then the switch will happen automatically and the credit card will be charged $49. I hope I am reading all these correctly.

@njfootballmom‌

Yes, I just did it. My subscription ends on 2/5 so I bought myself a gift subscription for $72. I set my regular subscription to non-renew and I will activate the gift subscription on 2/6. Here’s a link with a post that explains how to do it.

@4beardolls‌

I"m not sure to renew the student membership which expires in February if it will renew for $49 .I didn’t set it up for autorenewal. That would be cheaper than the $72 family subscription. Maybe it would be best to just renew the student account. I wonder if we can get free kindle ereader books since we have kindles.

@patsmom, Thanks!

It seems early to do it, but I doubt it will go on sale again and it is a good savings. I wonder if this is acting as a test for them to see if the price raise they instituted last year was a bad idea.

I have 2 kids using their 6 months free Prime accounts so one new account at $72 is better than renewing 2.

@Happy2Help, Can you renew one of your kids’ free prime account for $49 then once he/she becomes a member then invite the other kid for the family member? Just wondering - this is the first time we are using/renewing Amazon Prime account.

Hmmm. I think I’m on the 30 day free trial now- but would rather pay 72 than 99 in a couple of weeks. I wonder if I can do that…

My son happened to be telling me about signing up for the Amazon Prime deal today. He orders quite a bit of little stuff from Amazon, he DOES NOT want to wait that LONG for packages or have to buy more things to come up with $35 purchase to qualify for free shipping. For me, waiting for free shipping is fine, I am too cheap to cough up $70, but when we find out he can “share” with up to 4 additional household members, I told him to get it, he is paying for it!!!

“Note: Amazon Student members receiving Amazon Prime shipping benefits and customers receiving free 30 days of Amazon Prime benefits with Kindle Fire won’t be able to share their membership” (from Amazon page)

Looks like Amazon Student members cannot share membership?

We’ve been sharing my son’s student Prime membership since he took a college class as a senior in HS. He’s graduating from college this May. I know we went to the $49 deal a long time ago but just wasn’t sure when so I just checked into his Prime account information and it clearly says, “On August 30, 2015, you will be charged $49 for a year of Student Prime.” Not sure if there’s a glitch in the system or what, so I guess I won’t take advantage of this.

Thanks for the tips on how to take advantage of the Prime deal before my regular subscription runs out in March. I did not want to renew it for $99.

Patagonia is having a sale of up to 30% off online and in store, 1/29-2/3. They have some nice, warm things, but prices tend to be fairly high, even with the sale.

Oh, wow, thanks, HIMom! Big kiddo lives in Patagonia clothing.

Yes, H & I & BIL bought some last year in SF at their last sale. H & BIL chose down vests that weren’t on sale because they didn’t like the shiny look of the sale vests. Oh well, the vests have kept them nice and warm. I bought a very warm and nice fleece jacket that is nicer and warmer than my regular sweatshirts and has zippered pockets that are handy for travel.

Love Patagonia. Maybe by late February… Or they may be out of everything by then, lol!

We’ve been using different children’s Prime accounts for years, we just log on their acct and it comes to whatever address you put in. One daughter has 2 Amazon accounts, one with her regular email address and one with her school’s so she would have one for later and privacy. This is the last year for all of them but we might share one again, expensive for just me, but if they all want to use it on occasion, they can.

Anyone have good discount codes for LL Bean or Lands End? Need to order 15 duffle bags for end of season presents for swim team seniors. Have been bugging coach for approval for past month when I had valid ones, but they have expired.

Missed the Amazon Prime deal. Looks like it was a one day deal yesterday.

:((

LL bean had a 10% that recently ended, but they offer that frequently. Now is free shipping, no limit on order I think.

Talbots has 60% off, and free shipping with 150 purchase. No code needed. Just ordered about 6pairs of pants. 4 will probably go back, but I’d rather try them on at home.
