Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

After I saw raclut’s post #7134 re Kate Spade purses at 50% off, I remembered a promotion at Vons/Safeway stores in our area (and perhaps chain wide) of $15 off the purchase of a $100 Nordstrom gift card.

Wow, that is a sweet deal. I have to check my Safeway!!!

Safeway is selling roses for $5 today. My sisbought some.

^perfect, I need flowers for a hostess gift tonight!

I don’t think our safeway is having a promotion on the Nordstrom giftcards.
@jym626 There seems to be more kate spade 40% off today then I remember. Maybe the sale has changed in the last day because there was more options at 50% off before.
If you register at ebates you get 6% cashback on your Nordstrom purchase online.

Does anybody use ebates or coupon cabin to get cashback when shopping online?
Looking at the preview of black Friday ads nothing really impresses me.

I got 20 long stem roses from Trader Joes for $9.99. They already have their poinsettias out on display.

There were tons of poinsettias for sale at Home Depot today–nice bright red color to offset the gloom from rainy weather predicted for the weekend. (We didn’t buy any, but it was a nice burst of color to see in the gardening section.)

At Old Navy the other day, they had a coupon that you could get 50% off everything in the store if you had a Old Navy credit card on 11/21. They were trying to get folks to sign up for their CCs and my friend did; the salesclerk said you had to sign up for the Old Navy Credit Card by Friday to get the 50% off for Saturday. Just FYI, for Old Navy fans.

Don’t buy plants at Home Depot! They buy their plants from growers that use neonicotinoids. At least check the label first: http://www.environmentalleader.com/2014/07/01/home-depot-to-require-neonicotinoids-labeling/

I use ebates! Just recently got my “big fat check”.

I think I have that Old Navy deal - I believe it’s also good if you have a GAP card. My daughter was saying that while she doesn’t normally shop at ON, that she saw an ad for some vests (quilted fake down) that she liked.

Wow, never remain alized there was a problem with HD plants (tho rarely buy any plants). Good to know.

HD stated that they abandoned that practice. The news link is from 2014.

I have a UPromise credit card. When I shop at stores online, I go through the UPromise website first and then click on the store (most all of the big stores are on there as well as online only merchants) to save at least 5%. Then when you use your UPromise MasterCard, you get an additional 5%. Last year I bought a Mac computer at 15% off. I love it and can request a check anytime. You don’t need a kid in college either. No fees on the card. Went to London and Paris in July. Booked my hotels through Priceline and saved 13%. I have used it for hotels.com, JCPenney, Sears, Marriott hotels, Home Shopping Network, etc. Check out the list on UPromise. Probably most of your favorite stores are there. Etsy and Cheryl’s cookies are even on there. I get 10% back from some restaurants too. My favorite salad place Green Market Cafe (I live in the Clearwater, FL area) is one of them. Love free money!!

Yellowgranite56 I also use Upromise. Without contributing very much, I saved (starting late) enough for my kids books and extras without any hassle. I got larger amounts with computers, vacuums, etc but even the little things add up over the years.
US News got my name on this site, wrote me and others and did an article on it years ago. I told them my biggest regret was starting late and forgetting to go through them. They later put in a reminder so if you were on a site they used, you’d see it.
My Mom and sisters let me register their grocery cards and drug store and that amounted to a little also.
Not my only 529, but glad I did it. Still have a small amount, around 500 waiting for my daughter to go to grad school and then I’ll cut a check. I’ll keep it for future use.
Xmas time is busy, I see 3,5 10.00 dollar amounts going in weekly with all my internet shopping. : )

BunsenBurner, My understanding is that they are going to stop buying plants in the future that have been treated with neonicotinoids, but that right now what they are doing is labeling the ones that use it. This article is from April 2015. http://www.takepart.com/article/2015/04/11/loews-bee-killing-pesticides

Yes, it is the result of purchasing inertia - just like a train cannot come to a complete stop instantaneously, large chains that sign contracts with their growers way in advance have to deal with the contractual obligations until they find a new source. It takes time for plants to grow, too. I am all for banning many nasty things that should not be used.

I went to a really nice dollar tree today and got some really nice things $1 each. They had a lot of holiday items out.
I bought seasonings, magnetic holiday decorations for my fridge, a cupcake holder that holds 9 cupcakes, a 2016 planner, nice holiday tins, and some tin foil cupcake trays. Spent a total of $9. Will definitely go there again.

I had fun shopping at Target today now that D is home on break. I discovered it carries refrigerated Panera soup, and they were buy one, get one free. The Hagen Dasz was 40 percent off with the Cartwheel app, and it was already on sale. Today is the last day for that discount, though.

Got Costco GV Ponte pants in dark grey. They were only $11.99 on coupon and don’t even need hemming! Will be perfect for plane and more!

Also got 40oz chex mix for $3.59 @ Costco and Sonicare base and toothbrushes on coupon. They also had nice leather bag @ $29.99. Bathrobes were each $15–got one for each goddaughter, living in SF and BC.

Oh, I have missed almost 300 of these posts. Wish I had seen the one about the Hagen Daz, no other ice cream really does it for me.

But there is a new grocery chain in my area, just the last year and now out of business. Hagen (nothing to do with the ice cream.) I have stopped in a couple of times as they are discounting but yesterday I saw they put out bulk items from the bakery and I got a 50 lb sack of high gluten bread flour for $10 and another of a grain and seed mix for making rustic bread, same price. I was also eyeing a sourdough base and a seedy bread topper but where would I put it?
