Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

“The Hagen Dasz was 40 percent off…” No!!!

Made out like a bandit at the TJMaxx today! An AllClad pot for $69 ($200 at Macy’s). Saw a TON of Spode Christmas dishes and some Lenox china, too. Got a set of RL cotton sateen sheets for kiddo for $29.99 and a Carole Hochman Midnight plush robe for $24.99. Saw lots of Reidel glasses on the shelves, so had to get some for Mr.'s port (yay, I can now throw out the mismatched hodgepodge glasses).

Gotta love the TJ buys! I get almost all my sheets (most often RL) there. Can’t beat the prices!

If anyone is into sewing or crafts, JoAnn Fabric is having an early Black Friday sale.Today there is a coupon for 20% off total purchase, including sale items, Then tomorrow, Wed. and of course Friday, all sorts of things are on sale-up to 70-75% off, AND they’re opening at 6 a.m. I’m stopping by tomorrow morning after I drop D off at school as the flannel is 75% off and I am making her a flannel rag quilt for next year. I’m hoping that at 8 a.m. they won’t be TOO busy.

I came across a 75% off Kate Spade sale from Kate Spade: http://surprise.katespade.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-KateSale-Site/en_US/Search-Show?cgid=ks-view-all

Lots of nice items @ECmotherx2, but no returns, so you have to be pretty sure about tastes of recipient.

The Kate Spade sale has some great deals but I hesitate to shop online when it’s a final sale.
I end up having buyers remorse.
@BunsenBurner I am interested in Christmas spode. Usually Macys’s has the spode items 65% off on Black Friday so I wonder if the deals are going to be better at TJMax. Looking for bathroom towels and some spode dishes.

How come MY to Maxx stores don’t have All Clad deals like that?? And yes…I check often!

Just got some cotton sateen queen sheets at Costco. $34

Our Costco does not have full size sheets, so had to go to TJ. I think our little TJ is a hidden gem. It always has some good housewares. There is always All Clad!
raclut, I have not checked the prices on Spode, but there were quite a few pieces. You might be better off at Macy’s because they have a larger stock to pick from, and they sell it online, too (can’t shop TJ online). However, I will not be shopping at Macy’s any time soon because I am really, really mad at them. I bought an item using their card. A week later, I returned it, so the balance on the card went to zero. Right? Wrong. A return is not the same as payment, apparently. So by having a zero balance by the due date I incurred a fine for not making a minimum payment! Outrageous. Now, they charged me the infamous $2 minimum interest for the next cycle. Wow. The new card provider sucks. So I will not be shopping at Macy’s any time soon I told the lady who was explaining me these crazy policies.

@BunsenBurner I don’t have a macys card but they sure pressure you to get one. I’ve been managing fine without it.
It seems lots of stores will be opening at 6pm on Thanksgiving. I think I would prefer to shop online if possible. I don’t want to be stuck in a garage in a line of cars looking for a parking space.

This is my first credit card, I got it when it was The Bon card - more than 25 years ago! Miss that store a lot!!! Hate Messy’s.

Thanks for that info BB. I’ve had a Macy’s card forever and that certainly is new. Macy’s has gone downhill and this is one more nail in the coffin for me. What are you supposed to do? Make a payment and then ask for a refund? Ridiculous

Nordstrom and Net-a-Porter opened their designer sales today! Some 30-50% off deals on Tod’s shoes.

I realized that this coming Saturday is Small Business Saturday. The last (couple?) of years AmExpress has offered some rebates if you shopped local on this day. Looked it up for 2015, no rebates this year:

Is there an American Express Statement Credit Offer for Card Members for Small Business Saturday this year?

As in years past, American Express will continue to drive awareness of Small Business Saturday and encourage consumers to shop small through local and national advertising.

This year we are not offering a statement credit offer for Card Members on Small Business Saturday, but are instead increasing the support and resources we provide to help small business owners market the day within their communities and truly make it their own. Learn about the materials we make available at ShopSmall.com/GetReady:

Customizable marketing materials
Free online ads
Shop Small merchandise kits (while supplies last)
Educational event guides
We are also significantly expanding our grassroots advocacy efforts, such as the Neighborhood Champion program, to facilitate more community events and activities to engage local communities to shop small on Small Business Saturday.

I am a fan of shopping local 365/days a year. Most restaurants we frequent are local, rarely a chain. Sorry to not have a “good buy of the day” this year via Small Business Saturday!!! But will still support.

I’m joining the done with Macys crowd. I bought a wedding present, clearly indicated it should be sent to the couple (i don’t like taking gifts to the wedding). The gifts arrived at my house, I called and tried to arrange a return/reship to the couple. I was told it would cost me a lot of money (sale ended). I pointed out it was their mistake, the sales associate agreed with me, but there was “nothing she could do”. I can do something–not shop at Macys.

We could, start a whole new thread about Messys. That’s what we call it here. They would, have to give me free things I wanted to get me back as a shopper. I can’t stand the place.

Express has everything 50% offs starting today. Some things already sold out on-line.
Banana Republic 40%off most everything, and if you " took a friend" in at the store at the mall, you got 50% off one item. Suit coats weren’t included, but many things were. Got my husband a nice sweater with my 50%, and my son got some shoes with his. This two items were $300, so that little 10% was 30 bucks.
I know we have lots of Macy’s haters, including me sometimes, but our local Macy’s usually isn’t too bad. My younger son got a suit there today, and the salesperson was extremely helpful, and steered us to what actually looked best, as opposed to what cost the most. He did a presale for friends and family, so the suit was just a little over $200. Seemed like a good deal to me.
Darn these kids cost a lot when they come home!

Went to Ross today – 10% off because I’m a SR ( per their rules). Bought a black leather (or leather-like) wristlet large enough to hold D’s huge phone (same size as iPhone 6+) for $9+tax! Also bought her an attractive black Costco leather crossbody bag for $30, also for D (since she and red the identical one I had purchased for her cousin).

I just wanted to add my Macy’s story. Went there to buy my D her homecoming dress. An hour before the dance, she goes to put on her dress, and the giant plastic security tag is still attached! With a warning on it not to pry it off because it contained ink. So I had to race to the Macy’s with the dress to get the tag off, where they proceeded to make me prove that I had purchased it (because obviously frantic mothers come running in all the time to have tags removed from dresses they DIDN’T purchase).

Wolferman’s is having a good Black Friday sale. I just sent my sister a Signature Tote Gift , that was half off ($17.49)- English muffins, kringle, scone, preserves, coffee, in a nice tote). Just a thinking of you kind of thing since she is going through some medical stuff. She loves Wolferman’s so was glad to get such a good deal.
