I was pretty much giving up in despair over whether I could get ANY hotel rooms at a decent price near Stanford Medical Center because we had no idea that 2/7 is Superbowl weekend and they are using the new Santa Clara stadium, which unfortunately is right near Stanford. I was seeing rates north of $400/night, sometimes double that or even triple PER NITE! It was pretty depressing but I kept searching and was able to snag a room at $155/nite, including free parking and breakfast about 15 minutes from where we need to be, which I feel is an amazing deal! Iām pleased and H is as well, since none of us want to drag ourselves bleary-eyed to Dās appointment and fight traffic to get there and back. Most of the reviews are pretty positive and for that price, we should be able to manage.
I also got a hotel near the Fishermanās Wharf area in SF for 6 days. I have rarely had an opportunity to explore that area and look forward to staying there. It includes parking and 2 beds as well and was an average of $118/nite, which is amazing for SF.
My sis saw a 31" Darth Vader at Ross for just under $20, which she bought for her grandson. She later saw its clone at CVS for $90! The grandson LOVES it and sheās proud of her great deal!
S was annoyed that one of his packages which was reported delivered yesterday did NOT arrive, tho we all looked. No biggie, but he was a bit disappointed.
D2 and I did our traditional thing the day after xmas (d1 usually came too, but this year she went to visit her BF). We went to Saksā 70% off sale. The sale was only from 9-12. Women were literally grabbing things off my hand. We ran into my sister in law at the store. We just waved at each other, couldnāt even bother to stop to chit chat.
I bought 2 dresses, a sweater, a coat & a blazer. D2 got a blazer, dress, shirt and a pair of pants. They were all 70% off. Our coat and blazers were originally 700+.
Good job, oldfort! We donāt have a Saks here, but I did some damage online a couple of days before Christmas. Only 60% off, but I was still pleased with my Max Mara loot: pants, jacket, and a lovely cashmere skirt.
Took DD shopping for her Christmas presentsā¦which all needed to be tried on. Went to Dicks for sneakers. She likes ASIC 2000. They had none in the new racksā¦donāt carry that model, any, ore. But waitā¦found a perfect pair in the right color of the ASIC model she likes on the clearance rack for $89.99 with a tag that said additional 25% off the lowest ticketed price. Woohoo. But wait. When I got to the register, I mentioned that these were clearly returns that had been worn (some debris in the tread)ā¦so,they took another 10% off. Totalā¦$64.10 for a pair of $120 shoes!
DD tore a pair of black slacks yesterday. Not good. She has 4 more pairs at her apartment in another state, but needed one pair here. She didnāt want to spend a lot of money. Got JCrew city fitā¦black slacks for $12 brand new with tags, at our local goodwill.
Havenāt spent any money the last two days. May hit the mall tomorrow if there is anything left. Did not sleep well because it was too warm. Took a mini nap and now Iām enjoying my cup of tea. May step out later if needed.
DD, her BF, and my DH are at Star Wars. The theater near usā¦a nice oneā¦was having a special. If you bought the tickets online, they were $4.99 each!
