One of our kids asked for a Goldstar gift certificate for Christmas when we suggested they might like tickets to an event. I’d never heard of Goldstar, but they’re in many cities and you can get tickets to a variety of events through them. Gift certificates that can be redeemed beginning 12/25 (no expiration) are 20% off now. The $200 we planned to spend for S and DIL cost us $160.
I ended up buying 7 giftcards and got 14 slices, so each person will get a card + 2 slices.
Just found a deal for Sam’s club membership. $25 statement credit for a new membership charged at the store with AmEx card AND $20 Sam’s gift card, making the $45 Sam’s membership FREE!
The $20 offer is offered by Perkspot, but I found a PDF of it on Fatwallet. You need to print the offer and present it. It expires 12/31/2015.
$15 would buy a frozen CF cheesecake assortment at Costco.
I think I put on five pounds just reading the last dozen posts.
Gave D her CF gift cert and slices early, yesterday, as she was having a bad day. It did bring on a smile. Have many more gifts for her.
Glad many folks here have benefited from the CF coupon offer.
I must be the only one on the planet who won’t go out of my way to go to Cheesecake Factory. The lines are horrendous around here…and to be honest…the food is meh.
I have a great NY style cheesecake recipe that my family likes better than CF fare anyway. Not worth the time…or money to go to CF in this household.
I remember the shock of seeing hordes of American tourists lined up to get into the Cheesecake Factory in Honolulu… Come on, people! You are in Hawaii. Why would you eat what is readily available where you came from? The sushi and seafood places just around the corner were amazing, inexpensive, and not crowded.
I didn’t see very many gift card deals this year as compared to years before. Cheesecake factory still gave more for your money when purchasing their gift card. For my daughter the free cheesecake slice is a treat which I would think twice to pay $8 or $9 for. Nice gift for college kids.
My gf’s and I lunch at Cheesecake a lot. The have great salads (we never order anything but that) and they are huge so I bring home enough for dinner that night. We go early (11:30) after we play tennis and never a long line at that time. I’ve never even tried their cheesecake but I’m not a big dessert eater, so,
I am not normally much of a dessert person, but 2 free slices per gcert seemed like a great treat.
A package that cost a lot of $ to send via UPS (even using a company discount) was supposed to get there by 2 day air- guaranteed. Had written confirmation that it would arrive by end of day Weds. Well, the package sat in our city for 2 days, and the delivery was rescheduled for Thurs, the third day. Well, after several days of customer-no service, phone #s that went to an automated system and cut off, getting punted to other departments that don’t respond or promised return calls that never came, I was just about to write to the CEO of UPS with all our documentation (including the screenshot of the rescheduled delivery, for day 3 of a 2 day guarantee) when one wonderful customer service person said they issued us a full refund of almost $197. It should be on our credit card in 2-5 days! I may write to the CEO (David Abney) and tell them to give her a raise!!
You’re not alone, thumper. I’ve eaten at Cheesecake Factory once and it was not my idea. If it were up to me I’d never eat there again. I dislike eating at any chain restaurants and really try to eat in locally owned places.
I generally prefer local restaurants, but will sometimes go to chains.
I’m getting worried about all my Christmas packages arriving on time. I ordered stuff last Monday and it was all scheduled for delivery last week and monday. Then it was rescheduled for wednesday. Now it is scheduled for ‘end of day’ on Thursday. Yep, while others are sitting down to a Christmas eve dinner or church sevice, I’ll be looking for the mailman, the UPS man, and FedEx. Three orders split into about 6 methods of delivery, but all different carriers. I will really be surprised if any of it gets here. The stores had 10 business days to get it here. If they can’t, they shouldn’t promise they will.
Two, I fully agree. Two years ago I ordered something that had guaranteed 2 day delivery. On day 3, Christmas Eve, we saw the UPS truck drive down the cul de sac at 6:58pm. He stopped for a couple of minutes and then left. So much for “out for delivery” and a 2 day guarantee - all bets are off when the delivery day is over. When #1D ordered her dad’s gift from Amazon yesterday I paid the extra for delivery tomorrow, so when it shows up on Thursday we will be ok. We are 25 miles from one of the major Amazon warehouses, so I hope it appears.
Wow, hope everyone’s deliveries will be trouble-free in the next 2 days. Between FedEx and UPS, 6 boxes got delivered today as promised. And my mattress people showed up, finally! They were so happy that I did not ask them to carry the damn thing upstairs. But then Mr. and I had to exercise our muscles and brains to get it upstairs and re-engineer the bed frame so the box springs and mattress would fit the platform bed designed for a mattress only.
Kiddo and I wandered around the mall today. She saw a bra she really, really liked, but at $140 - yikes. Then I noticed that it was marked down to $56. Awesome! It is a 3-way Marie Jo bra which I also have and love. Too bad they were out of my size, or I would have splurged on another one for myself!
That’s a good buy but wow, $140 for a BRA!!? It must do wonders!!!
I have spent serious money (>$140) on bras. The good ones are sadly quite expensive and when you are a larger cup size, it really does make a difference to have good support for more comfortand better foundation. Clothes do fit better with the proper undergarments and you look slimmer and fitter. Once I was able to figure out my size, I bought additional bras from Ross, TJMaxx and Nordstrom’s Rack at nice low prices. Since I did use the time and inventory of the bra boutique, I felt I needed to purchase a few items from them. No regrets.
Happy to report that 3 of my 4 outstanding packages arrived today. Christmas is saved! Unfortunately, the stuff from the final package is to be split among several gift baskets, so if it doesn’t arrive the baskets will be sort of sad, and if it arrives late I can’t really give it out in the days that follow as it’s all just small things like lotion and soap. Most likely, I’ll go buy stuff tomorrow and keep all the stuff in the package for myself when it arrives.
My macro lens for Mr. and other stuff arrived today, as promised. Also, the dress I ordered from Nordstrom today will come tomorrow!! Wow. That one was not meant to be a gift. Sorry you guys are having such a trouble with your deliveries.
