We just stayed at a different Hampton Inn in June than the one previously mentioned -the Dpwntown/Convention Center one on 6th, near Verizon and Convention Center. Free breaksfast. Could walk lots of places from there. Also very near a Circulator stop. which is a bus that runs regularly and for $1 takes you many places, including Georgetown.
I live in the D.C. suburbs. For those of you traveling and planning to stay in a suburban hotel, be aware that Metro is doing extensive track work through the rest of the year (and beyond), closing some stations and making some trips much slower and more crowded. See http://www.wmata.com/rail/safetrack.cfm?
Yes, I would stay in DC itself if at all possible. Especially if your goal is to see DC and the sites there. There are many hotels that are within walking distance, Circulator, or short Uber ride away. from many of the museums , galleries, and attractions.

Peaches were $0.69/lb today!
Peaches were almost free today! Only required picking them off the tree. Probably not as good as jym’s, but still sweet and juicy. I am so glad we did it last night… Because this morning we were awakened by a squirrel cursing us loudly. Spoiled his peach breakfast!
That hurts @jym626 I paid $1.99/lb today.
I don’t make it to Costco often, but I got some peaches from there today and they were very good. Not cheap, mbut very good.
I love going to the farmers market and trying all the varieties of peaches.
Macy’s home sale has several mattress pads on sale. I bought the Tommy Hilfigger twin XL regularly $70 marked down to $41 and then used a coupon to take it to $31 and no sales tax!! I had found others at close to this price but all were of poor quality.
Sorry @Undercovermom1. Bought some earlier in the week that were $0.99/lb and they were not locally grown. They were not great, and some were disappointingly mealy. Might have to make a pie with them. The ones I got today are local. Waiting for them to ripen a bit more. But yum for right off the tree, @BunsenBurner. Most i have gotten this season were terrific. Went up to a farm where they have 27 varieties of peaches throughout the season!
@Cheeringsection Went to Macy’s today and found a queen size comforter set that I had my eye on for a longtime for $40. Unfortunately the power kept going out in the store. 1 1/2 hours later I put the item on hold because they couldn’t get their registers to work with the outage.
I went to Trader Joes last week. I got 11 peaches in a flat…they were good size ones…for $5.99. They were all absolutely delicious!! And I thought that price was very good!!
That is almost identical to the price and quantity of the ones I got for $0.99/lb. They are huge.
I have been enjoying plums lately. We used to have a tree in our yard growing up.
Broke out of work after 9 hours and hit up Ulta. Birthday reward I had to use in the next couple of days -$10 off my purchase and a free Urban Decay eyeshadow.
^ same deal @zeebamom , was surprised to see the “free” urban decay eyeshadow $19 value. ( will gift to daughter ) also all purchases double points, too. Plus there was a $3.50 coupon in mailer, but must can’t be used with $10 off.
Forgot to report that Macy’s also had all clearance PJ’s BOGO free! DD and I each found a pair and had a great laugh in the fitting room trying on the different options.
I love this luggage brand. They are water proof, light weight and very durable. D2 wanted a carry on. I found it on ebags for $59, originally 229, so I bought 2.
