Don’t many cards have CDW? Mine does along with most of the stuff listed above and its free.
We got the plain Chase Sapphire–$95 annual fee and 70k in points plus extra 5k points for authorized user. Has travel insurance and primary CDW as well. We wanted it for travel insurance and CDW, plus D uses the points to book last minute flights between LAX and HNL very cheaply.
Most of those come as secondary, which means they will only pay your personal insurance deductible or whatever your insurance did no cover… maybe. I would much prefer NOT to involve my insurance into these matters.
Sapphire preferred has CDW as primary, which with the travel insurance are the things we like best about this CCard.
What is CDW?
CDW - collision damage waiver: http://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/collision-damage-waiver-cdw.asp
Adding my deal of the day from yesterday. I have been on the hunt for a MOB dress for a few months. Yesterday I went to Ross and found this: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/alex-evenings-lace-mesh-gown/4386983?origin=related-4386983-0-1-PP_4-Data_Lab_Recommendo_V2-frequently_viewed_v3_2&recs_type=related&recs_productId=4386983&recs_categoryId=0&recs_productOrder=1&recs_placementId=PP_4&recs_source=Data_Lab_Recommendo_V2&recs_strategy=frequently_viewed_v3_2&recs_referringPageType=item_page for $40. I’m not sure if it’s a keeper or not because the wedding is in November and I really wanted something with a jacket. But, I was there, it looked nice on me (except for the fluffy white arms) and it’s returnable. Keep the dress. It is gorgeous! And for that price, you WILL find a place to wear it…
Amazon 's deal of the day is on Ankar external batteries. Great stocking stuffer or care package.
Thanks!! Got the 4-way wall USB port.
I just ordered this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N2T7U90/ for D’s stocking. After the kids at FSU in dark after the storm I figured this would be a good addition to her college survival pack;-)
3scoutsmom, intrigued by what you just bought. Is the idea that you keep it plugged in all the time so it’s available ad charged once you need it?
@collage1 – I have purchased these little back-up charging devices for my sons. I did not compare quality but simply bought when I saw at Costco in a two pack. They keep the small device charged (supposedly) in their backpacks, and then can recharge their cell phones when needed. The key is to remember to recharge the device after using so that it is ready for the next time it is needed.
We have the little $10 ones. They work great for recharging a cell phone and you can usually get 2-3 recharges of the cell phone before having to recharge the charger. It’s small, about 2x2x6, so easy to put in the backpack.
I got similar chargers CT1417 for stocking stuffers 2 years ago. My daughter’s found them helpful in that awful snow storm we had and lost power and one daughter on a long train in Europe. You do have to remember to recharge them though. ; )
Thanks for the additional info. I was unaware any were good for more than one charge so I’m intrigued. I’m actually thinking about the functionality of having one at home. We live in earthquake country and also periodically go through periods during which we lose power. We could just leave one plugged in all the time in, for example, the laundry room as a safety precaution. We already own a couple so I’ll have to first check and see if any have as much capacity as we’re discussing. I always thought that those back up batteries would just charge my iphone once. The things I learn on CC!!
I splurged on this travel jacket, which was on sale:

Haha, we’ll see how well the inflatable neck pillow in the hood works!

For most brands, once it’s charged, no need to keep it plugged in. Will hold a charge almost indefinitely. This is a great sale and Amazon frequently has others around black Friday.
I’ve been dealing with cell phones with crummy battery life for the last six years so have bought several external chargers. I like the ones that have multiple outlets so I can charge my kindle or my husbands phone and my phone at the same time when we travel. I also use one at night sometimes when I’ve spent the day in a non wifi area. I have lipstick and the larger bricks. I don’t travel anywhere without an external charger. I bought an anker a couple of weeks ago with a Groupon. It was cute, but didn’t have a lot of juice.
@greenwitch , That jacket looks pretty neat! Please come back with a review after you try it out.
Haha. That video for the jacket almost reminds me of some SNL skit. They keep pulling more gadgets out of their jacket!
Brexit at Harrods? I am seeing some things on their site much cheaper than they are here…
