Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

@MAB222 and others: thank you! I was motivated to go to our “electronics travel” basket and I found two rechargeable batteries, one of which is still in the box and says “up to 4 charges”. Never even paid attention! So, I will charge both of them and then just keep them (not plugged in) in the event of an emergency. Both have two USB ports.

One more naive question: when charging, in my case, an iphone, I assume you connect the two, wait for the phone to fully charge (no idea how long this takes) and then unplug them and go on your way? Or, I suppose, if I needed to use the phone before it was fully charged, I would just keep the two devices connected and make my call? I’m feeling a little silly about now! :-/

@collage1 – I have seen my boys store the charging gizmo (looks like a very large lipstick) in a hoodie pocket, charging while in use. So it would appear that you can charge while using.

It is no different from your phone etc. being plugged into an outlet. You can use the device while charging.

@greenwitch I saw that jacket when it was first promoted. They were taking preorders before release.
In the video I was expecting the soda can to explode all over the laptop.

One of the things to be aware of when using external chargers is that they usually come with a small cord that has a usb plug on one side and a micro-usb plug on the other that is meant just to charge the external charger. It’s easy to mistake one of those plugs for one that’s meant for your phone and jam it in. Not a good idea. Make sure to use your charging cord to plug into the external charger.

Another helpful thing to buy is a few charging cords. We seem to lose them and if you have different kinds of phones, they are not always interchangeable.

I have a charging pack that has an external charger, the cord to charge the external charger, the cord to charge the phone, a plug to plug into an outlet and a phone charger with two ports. I always check the external charger the day before I’m going to use it and charge it whenever it looks low (usually they have lights that tell you the battery strength). I keep them all in one of those little make-up bags you get free-with-purchase.

This is the latest car charger I bought. We seem to misplace these pretty often so I bought this one to keep in the car: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017JTEQKO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

my last post on this topic: I charged the two external batteries that I found in my closet (was happy to see that they were both already 80% charged so they definitely do stay charged when sitting idle). I now know that, should we lose power, we will be able to charge our phones for quite some time. Thank you to everyone who was patient with my learning curve. Not sure why I was so behind on this particular gadget!

Talenti gelato was on double sale, meaning it was on sale, but if you bought 5 of a variety of items in the market, you got an additional dollar off each one. So I am now the proud owner of 5 flavor of Talenti gelato, purchased at $2.99 each. Not so sure this is a good deal, if you know what I mean.

Extra 10% off at 6pm through tonight with code “BIRTHDAY” (it’s their b-day!) It says through tonight or until 50,000 people use the code!

Also I noticed that 6pm.com who USED to be free shipping on everything, more recently changed it to “free shipping for orders over $50”, now is “free shipping for any one item over $50 OR any two or more items of any price”! Glad to see this!

I may or may not have just ordered a pair of TOMS and a Marmot jacket…cause I needed to items for free shipping, right???

6pm used to charge for shipping, then it was free, recently they’ve been charging again. Sometimes their prices are so low, though, that the price of shipping is worth it. D has her eye on some Uggs that are half the cost of new ones anywhere else, for example.

Right @sseamom, but their current policy is as above, “free shipping for one item if over $50” or “free shipping for two or more items, any amount”.

Had to share because I feel like I just stole something, a 1200 threadcount, queen size, down alternative comforter for $64 on wayfair.com! Shipped to my DD and she says it’s divine :).

Wow, my Marmot jacket that I got for 60% off yesterday (plus an extra 10% off coupon code) is only 14% off today- that’s crazy!!! Guess it was a “good buy”!!!

With 6pm, it is grab it while you can! Good buy, indeed.

Haha, BB - you sound just like the email I had from them, “grab it while you can!” - do you do marketing for them on the side??!!

No, but I learned my lesson - when something looks like a great buy, procrastination on 6pm does not pay off!

Totally forgot that I won a supreme carwash service at a local shop til I went looking for something else. And boy did my car need a bath!

Here’s my warning bad deal for my fellow on-line shoppers. If you buy clothes on-line from Sears beware of their return policy. I generally only buy things that I’m not sure about if they have free return shipping or if I can return it at a nearby brick and mortar store, or the the item is a great deal and I figure I can give it away. While searching for the best MOB dress, I decided to try two from Sears. First tip off that something was weird was that they were shipped individually and neither had any packaging indicating they were from Sears. In fact one clearly stated it was shipped by BHFO and had a Macy’s label! Neither dress was what I wanted, so I took them back to Sears and was told that they couldn’t take them back and I’d have to send them back myself in order to get a refund. I’m not happy.

I got an email today for comforter sets on sale at BBB for $59.99. Comforter, two pillow shams, two square decorator pillows, and one pillow roll. I ordered one for DD, and was able to use a 20% off coupon too! Total cost was $50 with tax. Shipping was free.

Hope it looks as nice in person as in the picture!

I had a $20 off a $40 purchase coupon code from HSN so I used it to purchase something with free shipping.
