Your Good Buy Of The Day (Part 1)

I actually purchased this about four weeks ago, but it turns out round trip airfare from San Jose to London can be had for $708 in January if you book in October. It’s a straight shot there, but I do have 6 hours in layovers on the return trip (NYC and Phoenix). Add in $145 for a week’s accommodation in a hostel, and that dream of international travel is actually realistic on a college student budget.

Wow–never knew there was a nonstop San Jose to London! Sounds like a great fare too! What airline?

Good deal, Spaceship! I also recommend looking into Norwegian Air Shuttle that flies out of OAK. Very cheap and nice. Make sure to budget for food! It can be pricy in Europe!!

Bought tickets for July - LAX to London for $525 on British Air/American Air non-stop!

@lilmom: Is that round trip? (If so, goodness gracious, that’s fantastic!)

@Waiting2exhale, yes, it’s a RT fare. We told our friends who waited 2 days to look into it and the fares had gone up. They may pop up again. It pays to sign up for fare alerts.

Costco has Head runner’s gloves for 12.99! All those students texting as they walk around campus would love to receive a pair for the holidays…

Victoria’s Secret has 50% off some of their bras today. My D has a specific one on her Hanukah list and it’s one that’s on sale. There are a couple codes on the website that make it an even better deal if you spend enough.

We bought a new dishwasher (on sale) from Home Depot and it was installed on 21 Sep. This weekend we were at Home Depot and they had their Black Friday deals. When we got home, I looked online to see the price of the dishwasher and it was about $100 less than what we paid.

I sent an email to customer service with our order number, SKU, and asked if they could match the newest price. Got a call from customer service today and the rep tells me that even though we were past the 30-day price match, they were still going to refund the $100 to our credit card! Woo hoo.

Actually, even more of a good deal as we had purchased the dishwasher in July with a scheduled delivery date after labor day in September (because I wanted to see if those prices would be better, which they weren’t).

Lesson of the day- it never hurts to ask.

If anyone here likes Clinique, seems like the Nordstrom bonus is pretty good. Plus they have some new moisturizers that seems targeted to “older” customers, and they have a package deal that’s discounted. If you spend the amount on the new moisturizer package, you get a full size of something as an extra bonus.
I took my mom with me to purchase, so I wound up buying her the same stuff, so my “good deal” wasn’t as good, but it made her happy (she has dementia and it’s getting worse), so I’m happy to do it.

@lilmom: On those fare alerts: Ticket prices went down $200 on a trip my daughter will be taking in January. Alert came in Sunday morning, but I’d paid for the ticket last month. Oh well. Will mark my calendar for next winter’s trips, and keep my eyes open.

I went to Aldi’s today and got pomegranates for 59 cents each. Now I need to break them open. My local grocery store sells them usually for $2.50 each.

.59 cents IS a great buy - as long as they are full of juicy seeds! Do you know how to clean them? I recommend the bowl of water/cleaning under water method - there are youtube videos!

@abasket I agree. I prefer the underwater cleaning method. I beat it with a wooden spatula and the pomegranate seeds falls into the water. I may freeze them. I like them on salads and use them to top almost anything.

Two things!

It’s that time of year…Starbucks BOGO holiday drinks today thru the 14th (I think!) 2-5 pm!!!

Also, it’s a holiday weekend (Veteran’s Day) and that means Clear The Rack at Nordstrom Rack - extra 25% off clearance!!! WINNING!!! Now to figure out how to get to one…

Mod cloth has 25% off everything this weekend. Code HOORAY25

Not sure if this qualifies but…the strap of my Fitbit separated from the activity monitor. H was going to buy me a new one but I called customer service and they are sending a new one (slightly different model) free.

^^^What are you getting @FallGirl ???

The all-in-one printer I got a couple of months ago is still going strong with the ink that came with it, so when the deal came up again I bought another one ($18 for the printer including a color and black ink which cost about $30 if I just bought the ink). D can use it, thereby making my ink last longer  I feel a little guilty for putting more “stuff” out there, but the scanner works perfectly well and I can pass along the extra when I’m done with it.

I thought I posted this but I guess I didn’t: DH needed an xbox controller for windows (don’t ask but think VR)… anyway we ordered it from Office Depot as I had a $30 bonus coupon thing. So the $60 controller was $30 plus I used a cr card that gives me 5% back on purchases from Office depot and we ordered it through mrrebates which gives another 4% back.
